Swapping wheels in Chicago
New 17" S-lites with all-season run-flats... these are so new... I don't even have them yet.
But seriously... I want to get a set of winter wheels (Mini 16" R87 Double-spoke) and Kosei K1 TS 17" in silver for the summer. I want to wrap the 16" with Dunlop Winter M3 rubber and the 17" summer with BFG KDW 2. I'll also need a spare, storage, and tool kit.
What I have is the stock 17" S-lites with run-flat tires that the Mini was equipped with.
Any advice on how to go about trading what the Mini will come in with for what I need?
Anyone in the Chicago area have good relations with a dealer that may be willing to help me out? I contacted the dealer receiving my car (Bill Jacobs) and they were not able to help me.
thanks,
-alfredo

Just wanted to share my thoughts on the BFG KDW2. I bought a set last summer for my 04 MCS and was thrilled with their performance for the first 3K miles. Then they got progressively worse each mile after that. I would warn against them as they really do start to give up a lot of dry traction after 3K miles, and wet traction got really bad after 3K too.
I am currently running a set of Yokohama Parada Spec-2s and they have been awesome so far. Far superior to the KDW in my opinion. And they are $84 a tire vs the $118 of the KDW on tirerack.com

They are decent
I have an 04 MCS with 17" S-lites and the car came with one of two summer tires at the time - Pirelli Euforia or Dunlop Sport 9000. Both were runflat tires.
My MCS came with the Dunlops, and I have to admit they were better than I expected. They had decent dry traction and were very linear in their release when you pushed them hard. Road noise wasn't an issue, and they held up longer than I expected them to. With all of that said, I would caution against them due to the harsh ride they provided.
As most MCS owners will tell you, the runflats and our car's stiff suspension do not make a great combo. Bruised kidneys and loose fillings become of great concern over rough roads. There were times when I was afraid the car was going to be shaken to bits.
I ended up swithcing to non-runflats when it came to replace them and threw a donut spare in the back that I bought from my dealer. The other neagtive of the runflats is cost. The Dunlops cost $272 per tire at tirerack.com, plus shipping and taxes. So I was looking at $1,200 for the tires, and that was before the install. You can get great (non-runflat) performance summer tires for around $100 a tire.
