Engine information? 12H009

I've googled it, searched this and other forums and can't seem to locate some information on the engine going into my Mini.

The original 998 is being pulled out and a 1275 put in. The engine number on the 1275 is 12H009 14799, from what the mechanic has told me. I did find some search results on 12H009 but nothing substantial telling me anything about it.

Does anyone know what year this came out of? A or A+? Carb type? Compression ration, etc? I'd like to order some stuff for the engine to make it a bit more reliable but don't want to be getting the wrong stuff.

Yes, I looked at the MiniMania engine numbers and there is no 12H009 that I can find on there.

if it were me and I had a list of stuff I was READY to buy

I'd call Seven and ask to talk to a tech, explain that I had $$ in hand but need to be sure I'm on the right path for my engine and go from there.

In my experience, if you are buying from them they are VERY willing to spend time talking tech .... what is a bad idea is talking a bunch of tech, and buying NOTHING. Ditto with MiniMania but I'd probably go to Seven first . . .

Good thinking. I'll look through their site and see what I need to get. I like to order from the UK as prices are much lower, even with shipping but your idea, I suppose, would probably work anywhere. Thanks!

Thanks for the info. The engine is currently out of the car and is at the shop along with the Mini who is going through paint in the next few weeks. The car and shop is in North Carolina where I am moving in a few months so I don't have the ability to run down and do it. I'll be down there taking a load of stuff in a couple of weeks and will post one asap. Will keep you updated. Thanks!

The A series 1275cc unit in the Mini had either twin 1:1/4 su's or a single 1:1/2su, depending on model variant and year of manufacturer?
