Window Clearence Adjustment Help
I had the dreaded window regulator replacement done by a local shop in Atlanta that is a reputable shop for our Atlanta MINI's. However, I now have a whistleing sound of air even if I am parked and have the fans on. I notice that the window is not contacting the upper door seal as my driver side window that has no problems. I pointed it out to the shop service techs but they had no definate answer on how to adjust. Is this a dealer only adjustment or can it be done?

To install the regulator, they would have had to remove the glass. In doing so, they had to loosen and remove two large nuts on the outside of the glass that is accessable when the outer window seal on the top edge of the door is removed. The nuts are accessable when the door is closed, and window fully up. Simply loosen the nuts slightly, adjust the window to get the proper seal by sliding it left, right, up or down....hold it in place when it's in place and tighten the nuts. Reinstall the seal. The tool does require a special spanner type wrench, if you need the p# of the tool, I can get it Monday, maybe tommorrow if your desparate!

The window motor has a hall sensor and always stops at the full limit and then rolls back down 10mm or so. To adjust the window, remove the outer trim of the door where it meets the glass, roll the window all the way up(you will see it drop back down) and you will see the large spanner nuts at the front and the back of the glass when looking inside the door with the seal removed. Loosen the nuts with the special tool(I know you need the number for the tool), adjust the glass to the proper location ( I like to have almost all the way to the edge of the seal closest to the B pillar and then slide it up so that it has a good contact with the front of the seal at the A pillar and the top of the seal) and tighten the nuts.
I will try and remember to get the P# for the tool, I get caught up at work and forget....Sorry
