Engine Damper Impressions (MC)
#76
I just got mine this morning and its already on. Took me maybe an hour, give or take 10 mins. I notice little to no extra vibration and the shifting is worlds better than before. I can just let out the clutch with no gas and the car will just move on its own. It adds no extra noise and makes a world of difference. And, it only took 3 days from Texas to PA! Thanks Texas Speedwerx for uber fast shipping and a great deal!

Anyone seen or tried this damper/stabilizer:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MINI-...QQcmdZViewItem
It's a different design than the TSW (and I haven't seen pics of the LOTF version)...Looks like a more purpose built design and based on the bushings at both ends, might address the vibration issue.

Classic Mini's have a similar device to keep the engine from rocking, just a dogbone with shock absorber typer rubbers in each end. Seems to me it should work fine.......
Also, all the V-6 front drive GM cars have these dogbone type mounts to keep their engines from rocking as well. Doesn't seem to me like it would affect the safety of the car in any way..........
Not taking anything away from the TSW or LOTF damper designs here, it's just another solution - but only for 2004's from the description.

I've got an email in to the seller (on ebay). He lists a part # but not a manufacturer. Just curious who makes it and if it is specific to the mini or soemthing else. I do like the ease of mounting and the attaching points on the side of the strut tower with two bolts and a large plate to dissipate any load seems encouraging.
I will post any responses I receive.
