My lock went bad...
I can only unlock my driver's door with the key. This seems to be a common problem, but apparently everyone got it fixed under warranty by the stealership. Sadly, I don't have that luxury. Jayson at Classic Mini quoted me $100 for the lock actuator, but ebay has a lock for $9.95, but it doesn't look like the same part, but a universal part. Has anyone used this lock? Does it work better then the OEM. I rather not spend $100 if I don't need to.

I just bought my first MINI and discovered the same problem. I've got quite a few gearhead friends around to give me advice, and I'm going to take off the door panel to have a look around. Should be able to figure it out. I'll update as soon as I figure anything out.

Found the solution:
Different peoples problems seem to be different, but this is the more common issue. I will try it in the morning and see if I can fix mine.

Found the solution:
this is a fairly common problem that we see in the shop weekly.
the problem is the cable that connects the handle to the lock actuator. the cable pops out of the actuator and it doesn't have enough tension to unlock it.
the good thing is that it's easy fix. heres how:
pull of door panel.
remove the pin that moves up/down when you use the lock. the way you remove it is by feeling inside the door where it meets the actuator and poping it off. thats it.
look towards the actuator or feel with your hand for the cable that comes from the door handle. there is a green clip around the cable that goes into the actuator. you will have to pull the cable towards the front of the car and then push it into place in the actuator. that's all. if you want you can place a lil' bit of glue to keep it in place if it's not under warranty.
good luck!

I had no luck on my own today. There are 3 different inputs in controlling the door lock: one cable comes from the outside handle, one from the inside, and one is inside the actuator I believe. I am having my cousin help me pull out the actuator tomorrow to disassemble and diagnose. It makes a noise when you attempt to unlock electronically, therefore it is working although some piece isn't lining up quite right. The actuator has some motor in it to turn the metal rod the door lock is on.
My keyless entry still works when hitting the lock switch, it just doesn't unlock the driver door. I'm really wanting to get this fixed, however its not so bad coming from a ragtop wrangler. I didn't even bother locking the doors in it, too much of a hassle to unlock with a key and it still doesn't protect anything.
