We did a non-stopper too. Got in around midnight Sunday. The drive back was uneventful (glad to report).

We played dodgeball with a new water heater flying off a truck along I-40 on Sunday. Only the 15 passenger van in the right lane got tagged by it. None of our 9 MINIs in the caravan home hit it. Although I missed it by 5 inches!

You had a ruler handy and enough sense to measure how far it was from your MINI as it flew by

Krutty and I went east and stopped by his brother's castle, who let me drive his VW R32 AWD. Weeee!

Then we hit race traffic driving through Richmond, but got home about 8pm Sunday.

Had a good drive. Left Fontana at 7 a.m. Was home by 4:20 in the afternoon. Only drama was getting out of the car around noon for gas and wondering why it got so COLD! Yuck!

We got home ok as well. Both Alan and I have had the engine light on the entire way home. SF is in the hospital now, getting put back together...

We had a rather uneventfull trip as well, just LOTS of traffic...We caught up with a crew heading to Ohio, motored with them till they broke off, then caught up later with a crew heading to NH, MA, and ME. They had a LONG way to drive. Stayed with them till we broke off. Kind of nice to see friends along the way!

I didn't end up leaving Fontana Village until 1:30pm, and I then stopped at Deal's Gap to buy a T-shirt and eat a Dragon Burger. I made it home around 9:20pm.

After leaving Deal's Gap, I only stopped once - for gas, potty break and to buy a liter of Mountain Dew. Was maybe a 5 minute stop, tops. Smooth and uneventful trip, only saw one or two "ready" speedtraps but I was either within tolerable limits or I wasn't sticking out like a sore thumb.

Krolyat and I left @ 1:20pm and got home @ approx 1:30pm not bad for cruising @ **mph... :-)
I went accross NC using 40E to 85 to 95 and used my radar detector the whole way to cruise home quickly.

Just a quick thanks to the two MINIs I hooked up with before the Delaware Memorial Bridge (one R53/R56). I became separated from my crew & was starting to feel a bit of white line fever. They gave a big wave exiting @ 7A on the NJ turnpike. I didn't make it home until 04:00AM-14 hour drive.

Whoa! That's a huge bummer! Did the car make it home ok? What were the symptoms?

I hope you get it back quickly.

Guess that's why we didn't see anyone on the road, we left before 8am and hit home around 5pm with one stop for gas/lunch. No dents, dings, damage, lights, tickets, or broken bits, just a lot of bugs on the front end-had a great time will be bringing both Mini's next year-daughter decided it was worth the gas to drive herself next time!

I've had a radar detector for 5 years (it was stolen on the cross country drive to Cali), and everytime I drove into VA, I left it on. I think it's safer to have it up to avoid a ticket, than to risk not using it. I usually would take it down when parking in DC or VA, but would put it right back up whenever I resumed motoring.
