[Tue, July 4] 4th of July Parades - DCMM MEMBERS ONLY
These events are being coordinated by JNT and LaStrega.
Here is the latest information about the upcoming July 4 events. Things are still developing but you can go ahead and post this as a beginning. Also please post that these are DCMM members-only (and their guests) event.
MORNING: CAPITOL HILL PARADE
This is our fourth year of participating in what has become a DCMM tradition.
Staging in West Potomac Park (directions TBA) at 8:00-8:30 am for decoration and chumminess. Marina and I are working on providing donuts and coffee, more on that as it develops.
At 8:45 am SHARP the MINIs will head for the marshaling point on the Hill. The Parade starts at 10:00 and should be over by 11:00.
NOON: The WORLD FAMOUS INDEPENDENCE DAY TWISTY RUN
A repeat of last year's enjoyable run from Bowie to Annapolis. Staging at Saturn of Bowie (address and other details TBA) at 12:00 noon. Enjoy a twisty as we make our way to the Parole/Annapolis area. Estimated trip time about half an hour -- it's just a short one, but we have a slightly longer alternative for those who are interested!
AFTERNOON: MINI BUBBLE BATH and WASHING UP PARTY at Katie and Paul's
AFTERNOON: ANNAPOLIS PARADE
Our Second Year! Staging at the Graul's parking lot at Rowe Blvd and Taylor Ave (directions TBA) at 3:30 for car decoration and chumminess.
At 4:30 sharp the MINIs will head for the marshaling point on Amos Garret Blvd.
Bring water, snacks, sunscreen -- it'll be a bit of a wait.
PARADE STEPS OFF AT 5:45 pm.
Now DCMMers -- this parade awardS PRIZES for best decoration, most imaginative, etc. Take note!
EVENING: COOKOUT & FIREWORKS at Marina & James'
Enjoy cookout and drinks with fellow MINIacs at Marina and James' place in Annapolis. Afterwards, those who are willing to sign a liability waiver (j/k) can join us on the roof to watch the fireworks, or feel free to wander down to the City Dock. Our roof is definitely less crowded! Well, maybe. :-)
Further details on all of these events will be posted soon, but this is the broad outline. YOU HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED, NOW MOTOR ON!
Thanks,
James

Email sent...pending getting the day off from work, I should be able to make it to both.
If anyone is looking for decorations, what we have left at Joanns is 50% off. And I can get an additional 15% off sale items. I need to get some stuff myself!

Ok, Jay and I talked, and I didn't realize that I would be up ALLLLLL day long after being up ALL night long as well, so we are going to skip out of the morning parade and meet you all for the afternoon parade...That way, at least I can sleep a little bit!

OK...I checked with Paul, and he gave the OK to have the wash-up at our house...providing we're not on water restriction, which is happening north of us already.
So...come to our house at noon to hang out and wash your car. I only have one hose, so first come, first serve basis. Please bring your own washing stuff.
There's also a commercial do-it-yourself place very close by..you'll need lots of quarters if you decide to use it...
We can order take-out food for those who're hungry..there's several pizza places and a great cheese steak place, also close by....
Directions to our house are in the 1st post of the Dragon Wrap-up thread...

I (along with my wife and son) am in for the Annapolis Parade and cookout (e-mail sent). I am a new member and have only previously been to one of the Tate Breakfasts. I am looking forward to it and to meeting more of you fellow MINIacs.
