AH HA! Our office move is now probably moving a week later! The boss said his wife told him about my car rally and he figured we better move the date. ;-) He was kidding, looks like our new furniture is going to be the holdup.

So I can GO! Now I just have to decide how much time off I can afford right before the move. But that's splitting hairs, at least I can do a few days of it now!

Spoke to MINIUSA last night. I hope that by early next week our two events will be finalized so they can go on the MTTS web site and we can get the information out.

Running short on planning time now ... while the east coast stuff doesn't happen till end of August, I'm off flying to the west coast in less than two weeks now

Let's hope MINI USA / R.A.Events pull the last threads together quickly

Have to figure that out yet. I have to get back up to speed on whats's going on since I was not expecting to make it. I don't know if I'll go to CT or not. We're not moving that weekend, but the following one so I don't know how much time beyond the three day weekend I'd be comfortable taking.

I'll likely have to research this weekend and decide. Also gotta make some reservations.

Ok, now this thing is gettin greally interesting.

From the MTTS site... "'MAXIM' magazine models are joining the journey! Two female 'MAXIM' models will drive along in a MINI awaiting MINI Takes the States motorists at the end of each day's drive. They’ll be on hand to help MINI Takes the States participants relax and unwind with chair styled massages.

Hubba Hubba!

Just give them a Kool-ade package and tell them to make some. That is all they need to keep them occupied for hours

Friday drive down to Charlottesville via Skyline Drive

Has anyone started coordinating a drive DOWN to Charlottesville so we meet up with the MTTS coming in from West VA on Friday, Sep 1st?

I thought about leaving around lunch time from MoS / Wegmans, heading out I-66 and going straight down Skyline Drive to I-64 and then East to Charlottesville.

I'm not sure what time the "festivities" start at the Omni Charlottesville, but I thought I remember 5p?

Also, for KD, I saw that Business2.0 Magazine is providing 500 free tickets but I can't tell if they will be handed out at the park or if we can get them that morning/previous night before we start the leg.

Any thoughts?

The MTTS site says, "Tickets are limited so plan to arrive early!" I would say that means that they are handed out at the gate to the first 500 people.

Although I may be wrong...just my thought.

We are going down on the 1st too. I am not sure how many other people are joining up that day, but we are willing to motor with you (I will be sleeping of course, since I get offf work at 7am, but Jay is driving!!) I don't know what time things start there, but it is about a 3 hr drive.

Is it still just 3 hours if you take Skyline Drive? I was figuring 4 - 5 given the non-directness and non-highway speeds.

On the KD thing - I saw that, too, about first-come, first-served. But I've got to think that MINI wouldn't want to wind up with it's MTTS participants showing up from Charlottesville and not getting some of the tickets. (I imagine, with 500 tickets, I'm probably worried about nothing).

After the first 500, you can still go into KD you just have to buy your own admission,

Well according to the MTTS site there are only ~680 people registered for the leg that has the KD part. I would imagine that not all the people are going to show up so you can probably safely assume they will have tickets for almost everyone.

Right that's what I was thinking but do u think they may be saying 500 just to stop a bunch of people from coming. B/c if you buy tickets online 3 days in advance they are cheaper than at the gate (but non-refundable) and even cheaper with a military discount. (btw up to 7 ppl can go in on one military discount but since they know this is a special event they may not honor more than 2 ppl per discount)

Yes, I thougth the Skyline drive route would be more fun motoring wise than the whole 95 thing. I for one will skip KD
