It's underway

MINI Takes the States has begun out West. Starting tomorrow (Wed, 8/23), they'll be updating the website, http://www.minitakesthestates.com with photos, progress reports, etc.

The DC baseball game has been added for the DC stopover, but no new events, etc listed for Charlotttesville. I guess they expect everyone to find their own things to do. Kudos to the folks arranging the drive-in theater thing.

So have a side trip in mind for NJ and wondering if anyone is interested in joining us.

About 15 miles away from Jersey City is Clifton, NJ. Clifton is the home to Rutt's Hut - the home of deep fried hot dogs. Now I HATE hot dogs, but have wanted to try one of these after they were featured in a PBS hot dog special. Any takers?

Also any DCMM's going to Kings Dominion? We are planning on going ride a few rides and leaving early and was wondering if a group was driving down from here (DC area).

Sagworks - We're planning on going to KD early and being there a while then drive back in the same day. Sounds similar to your plans.

Yup will drive back early to make it to the game. So let us know what time you decide on leaving, maybe we'll get a small group to head down. You doing 95 or are you driving an alt. route? I would hope early in the morning the 95 traffic would not be too bad.

Prob do 95. If we're a small group doing this we could join up and drive together.

You're welcome, I didn't realize you were a part of the planning for the Charlottesville drive-in movie plans. I only knew about CarlB and his cousin (and, of course, Jen). Thanks to you then, too.

Sherill, I plan to go to Kings Dominion, depending on the weather, from Charlottesville. Hopefully I can meet up with you guys and ride some coasters before heading back for the game. Maybe I'll try to call you when Im on the road and we can figure out a meeting place inside the park. I want to experience as much of the MINIusa MTTS event as possible.

Anyone know if KD still have the steel coaster that goes through the tunnel through the lake? Or am I thinking of another park?

Sally, I'm in the same boat - going from C'ville to KD then to the game. Should we try and set up a time to meet/depart in C'ville for all the DCMMer's?

You're probably thinking of the Anaconda - yep, it's still active... I rode it on the Asya-organized multi-group KD outing. It's fun! I like Volcano better though, but the lines were ridiculous for it because they were only running one train.
