Tire Dressing

I know, there's a million post talking about tire dressings, but I can't seem to come to an answer as to what to use. I used Black Magic on the wife's new MCS last week and boy did that not go over well. It "thew off" Black Magic all over the sides and she was not happy. I've used it a lot over the last several years (on her car and my car) and never saw it do anything like it did on the Mini.

So here's what I'm looking for, something that provides a new tire look, fairly easy to apply, and doesn't come off all over everything.

What's the answer?

TIA,

Chris

Aerospace 303, although I never used it on the tires myself.

i use the Meguiar's InsaneShine spray in a bottle and squirt some
into the Target Vroom applicator pad on a diagnal and apply
thinly.

goes on very easily and stays put. doesn't wash off in rain
unless you drive in it for a while. good stuff.

Of course, you realize using that stuff on your tires qualifies you car for both the "chick car" and "clown car" clubs' awards...

you can make it shiny if you want, but the idea here is to use the
strong, yet very liquid dressing in a very thin coat.

if you want shinier, you keep adding more product until it looks like a
glazed donut. but that's not the finish i want so just use little amount.

i tried several other products but this has been the most easy to use
natural semi-gloss finish that lasts. i think their product is now called
something else though. hot shine or something like that but virtually
the same product.

Yeah I use a very thin layer of Four Star tire gel on the Vroom applicator (from Target). I like how the Four Star looks (very SLIGHTLY shiny) and it lasts forever...but it *does* fling if you drive right away after applying it (most tire stuff does). So my trick is apply as thin as possible, and then not drive overnight while it dries...so if I wash the car in the morning, I wait until that night to do the tires. Then I have no flingage to speak of

the thicker the product, the higher chance you're going to fling it
onto the panels.

that's why i like insaneshine. it's thin like water.

What if you wiped down the tire w/ a rag after application? Would that eliminate flingage, or would it wipe off everything rendering all of your dressing efforts moot.

Wizard Black Renew. No sling no glazed donut look no matter how thick or thin you apply it.
Find it at DP here: Black Renew

My second favorite is Zaino Z-16 Perfect Tire Gloss: Z-16

and in a pinch, 303 Aerospace Protectant: 303

I don't do products that sling or glaze.

I use Prima Nero from Detailer Paradise.

It doesn't have a high gloss & I like that. I spray some on a towel & wipe the tire down. The tire does end up looking new, not all shiny. If I get too much on I wipe it off with a clean towel. I've had zero problems with it being cast off as I drive.

While I use Nero on the interior plastic all the time, I must admit that it doesn't last too long on the out side of the car. Thats why I don't use Nero on the tires. You're right though, it does have a nice matte finish so for a day event with out rain or water it is fine.

You are correct, the lasting power isn't great, but I love the look. I use it once a week when I wash the MINI.

My wife on the other hand loves the glazed donut look on her Forester. For that I use the Black Magic slime shine.

it could lower the fling potential, but the product is caught deep into the
treads. that's why you can't really wipe it down completely and it
starts flinging when you drive your car.

imho, it's not worth the hassle to wipe down a sidewall after app due
to too much product. best to use thinner product in less amounts
and apply once.

that black renew, i would like to try in the future.

This stuff works good.
1Z Einszett Tire Foam leaves a non-greasy, low-shine, dust-resistant finish on your tires. and its tire safe, does not contain petroleum.

I use Meguiar's Natural Shine. It leaves a nice non-glossy look.

The BEST tire shine in the world:

A purple Meguiar's tire shine- NO idea what it's called, but I think they stopped carrying it. I know it is Gold Class something-or-other. I'm not huge on Meguiar's, but this tire shine is AWESOME.

We use it on our boat trailer tires, and even after putting the boat in and out of water (even in Lake Acid- err.. Erie), the shine is still there. You apply it with an applicator, and it lasts a LONG time.

flingage???
I love that word!
I use Turtle Wax F21 Super Protectant.
Spray it on a rag and wipe it on. It makes your tires "black" just like they should be.
Works very nice on the black plastic trim, also.

it's endurance no? the purple gel? smells kind of like grape? they DO still make it!

anyhow, i use it too and really like it. i put on a thin layer with a sponge applicator so it's not too shiney and it lasts forever. doesn't fling on me but, others here say it has on them. maybe they use it too thick and if that's the case any dressing will fly off.

i've even used it on the wife's pt cruiser's grey bumpers and it works great there too in a thin layer! the cruisers bumpers are really weird and the endurance is the only stuff i can find that will restore the color and cling to it well.

i use it and for the interior the meg's natural shine which is good stuff too. those 2 and the ICE WASH are the only over the counter products i use. but, it goes to show that there are a few OTC products that work decently! it's always nice IMHO to have a few things you can run out and buy in person when you run out.
