Based on this thread I grabbed a tin of NeverDull Wadding polish and I gotta say...
Yep. NeverDull. Amazing stuff.
I only need to do it once in the spring. I wash my car so often in the non-winter months (all six of them!) that the tip doesn't get dirty. I usually just wipe to black spittle off with a paper napkin or any pice of soft paper or cloth.
tech90 is probably the best stuff for the job, my car runs very rich, and gets very black on my tips and it shines it up like new! it also has lots of other uses, doesnt harm the paint or plastic, i used to to rewhiten my bonnet stripes too!

Thanks for the tip on tech99 I will give it a try.
I use a sponge or old rag I'm about to throw out. If I was showing the car which I think I have about another 5k needed before I get to that point I use mothers. living in florida it rains on a sunny day so not worth investing serious time into them.
I just clean them last with a mitt during my car wash, and I use my fingers to clean the inside of the tips so I don't get too much black on my mitt. With regular washing you really should never need a polish.
