Epic on Old Black Paint!!!**Non MINI Here
Well today I got to work on a 1987 Black Mercedes 560SL with a single stage paint---no clear coat. It was a pure joy. The car was just purchased from some guy who only deals with 560SL's, and he had his own detailer polish the car.
The owner of this car is a friend and longtime customer of mine and she was furious because she told him that she wanted only me to touch the car.
Anyways, after looking it over, it looked good in the shade, and felt smooth to the touch, but in the sun, this is what it looked like.
This is how I know I was dealing with an old non clear coated finish--but PC pad turned black after buffing for a little bit
Here's the results of my first test spot
And I won't bore you with the details since this isn't a MINI
Here are the end results
Swirl free, defect free, wet, thanks to Amigo and Epic.
Process was Wash with DI water, Polish with PC and M80 and W8006 pad, Polish with Amigo with W8006 pad, Wax with Epic with W9006 pad. There were a few spots I used the rotary with a W8006 pad to remove some deeper defects. Tires and trim dressed with Nero, chrome with NXT metal polysh.
Just goes to show that Epic looks great on both a new MINI and a 20 year old finish!
Coming up Next is a GP I polished with Epic!

WHOA!
I haven't been able to make it over to the forum all day and finally just got here... to see this! Wow. What a makeover.
Now THAT is a perfect example of what I would call "wet" in that black paint.
Nice work!! Thanks for posting your results. (great photos in general too!)
