Will not be able to make it too early so I will catch up another time. Perhaps at LRP with Patroon in August

Had a tough day at the track today. Blew out the rear passenger tire at approx 100 mph up the ess and went sideways. Corrected twice and went under the bridge ok. But at the bus stop, it was another scary moment with a bunch of tank slaps and a spin. Good thing is that I keep it on track the whole time and no one came close to me. Porsche bob was behind me and claim that the Mini panicked when he got close. He does 160 mph on the back straight.
Limped back to the paddock and found that I had zero pressure in the tire. It was really slippery running on one tire in the rear.
Still trying to solve the puzzle as to why the tire blew out.

First off .... glad driver and car are ok Also, I hope you went over the bridge and not under it...under it is a 25 mph speed limit
You didn't destroy the tire on the way to the pits????? that is one stiff car you have there. That gives new meaning to tripoding.
Rear passenger tire, in the esses?....I don't recall high G loads there and the right rear is the most lightly loaded tire for most of the track. Even turn 3 (left turn) didn't seem to pull a lot of Gs. But I suppose a little throttle steering could load the tire that much. But, still, I would look some more at some sort of damage versus just pullling away from the rim. A slow leak can cause low tire pressure which can result in it pulling off the rim. Maybe a nail hole in the tire or a crack in the rim? I would use the street tires/wheels and sort this out later...The Dunlops are good for a few laps (that is my next tire of choice)....
Hope tomorrow goes better...again glad you made it in OK

Could be a slow leak. Same tire I ran at trackmasters, BMWCCA longest day and LRP last week.
Went down to the tire shop twice to check for leaks. Long story. But after reseating it, it blew out again on turn 9 left hander. No leaks detected at the tire installer. It did not loose tire pressure between runs.

Holy Xmas!! Glad you made it thru without any car damage but having another blowout is just weird after it was checked over...
I will be really interested in what the cause of that was. I'd say switch the wheel to a different corner but I think trust in that wheel/tire is lost..
Hope tomorrow goes without incident!

Got tO the track and talked with Ian. He was a tire guy for lots of years (did not know that). I am going to drop to intermediate group and run 1/2 sessions then check the tire pressure at 15 minute intervals and there is a problem, I will run streets. he thinks it is a tire pressure drop causing that and the tire is not holding pressure.
I had the guy pull the tire off yesterday and reseat it with sealer and clean it out. There is no visible damage to the tire or the rim on the inside or out.

I ran the first session on the "fixed" r-comps and checked the pressures after 4 laps and I was down 5-6 psi. Came out and put on the streets and ran in inter. It was a little ego trip as only a cadilla ctv passed me in 3 sessions. A little dive bye and a little off line late pass and it scares them.
Yes it is slower.

Minced the inter "m"s. Advanced are a different story. This batch of instructors are pretty fast. Porsche bob minced me pretty good. Only two Porsche cup car's, two ferrari challenges and a gt3 passed him all day. Found out he is running 750 in/lb front and 900 in/lb rear springs and some five figure motons race coils. too rich for my meager savings.

Wish I was there...I might have had a chance at playing a little with you (you still have more Hp than me) and terrorizing the ctv
As they say...all's well that ends well

I am detecting a bit of body roll, maybe those would help my Mini

I would save up and get the AST 5100, similar to my setup and you will be real happy gpoing forward. No compromise.

Should have come.
How about Patroon LRP in August. Any takers?
