Harry's lap timer is a great data acquisition app for smart phones. However, you will need to get the add on Dual GPS antenna to make it worthwhile. There are 2 models. One ups the data taking rate to 5 Hz which works well and then there is a 10 Hz model which would be better. Do a Google search and you will find all sorts of info about it.

MINI rules LRP
Got to love the rain at LRP and driving a MINI...
MINIs rule in those conditions. Hardly any cars could keep up with me and it is the only time I have ever been out and not been passed and actually lapped others. WoooHooo And Patroons ran a great event...not one problem. Even the classroom time was worth while.
Done for the season. It was a great season. 5 days at WGI and 3 at LRP. I had someone tell me Thompson was a great MINI track...maybe next year. Buttttt....I am thinking more along the lines of going to VIR...any takers
Veggie...if you are going back out, I hope you have a great day.

You mean when he first passed me? I slowed down to wave him by. His "Justa" was easily faster than my S. No weight whatsoever. And his Hoosiers let him exit corners flat out. Not to mention he's a far better driver. It was a hoot to follow him while I could.

You can really see the help the Hoosiers give him when he just flies around Big Bend. It would be fun to drive that car once or twice.

Hey guys, we may have a new track to try out next year...
Check this out:

It looks like it could be a perfect MINI track and not far away.
2.3 miles around.
Still needs some work. SCDA says they will keep us posted.

Greetings, gentlemen.I hope y'all had a good winter. This is the first time I've logged in since September or October so I didn't see S-Driver's post about VV's shade tree coming down. Boy was I surprised when I was up there today! The hill to the right of the left hander has also been completely regraded. It's all about drainage, a bigger paddock area and making LRP more spectator-friendly so they can compete with other venues. They want to make sure to keep the Tudor series (or whatever it evolves into) and attract other races.
Because it was so cold and wet for the first run, Ian opened the alternate uphill/chicane for everyone's first run so nobody would slide into the fence. And someone would have slammed the fence — three cars in my group spun out going into the chicane. It was hairy for the muscle-car crowd. Have any of you driven that configuration? Very cool, especially for MINIs. A few LRP regulars felt the same way.

gk- sounds like you had a good time inspite of the cold. Those sort of things are fun in a MINI and add to it somewhat unfavorable track conditions and the MINIs can be down right unbeatable.
