Please post pics as soon as possible so that I can decide what to get. The guys at MINI club philippines are planning a group buy for the Gruppe M intake next week. They need to know if I will go with them or not for the group buy

I guess it depends on what you prefer. The industrial look of stainless is pretty cool in my book, adn we are planning to use strategically placed heat shielding from aerospace applications, but that carbon is certainly a work of art and is tough to beat without using composites of some sort.
Hope that helps!

I was really hot for the box DDM works showed a moth or two back... stainless with a black crinkle-coat type finish on the outside. Looked solid and they were hinting at an open scoop fitting, too. If it was going to be priced like their other Miata and MC/MCS boxes ($350+/-), I was sure I was going to get one.
Now it sounds like there might be others to choose from in the coming months. Needless to say, someone's going to get my money soon after these start to hit the market.

Hi everyone.....
Thank you Randy for letting the cat out of the bag while I was floating
on Lake Powell..
The AGS-R is an R56 specific system available in black gel-coat or Carbon fiber with a deep glossy finish. We are adding some options for more choices
when it comes to hardware, attachment plates, silicone hoses, a new hoodscoop, heat shields etc.
The first article is finished and I'm expectwed to sign of on the mold on Monday. Pricing will be very affordable for the glass version. The CF will be expensive, but we are adding some very trick parts to the system.
More to come soon.
PS. 900 British Pounds = today more then $1800 and how are you fitting a strut tower brace to that design?

As promissed an uppdate.....
The M7 AGS-R is finally in house and the excitement levels are high indeed.
We are adding some stand-of parts to locate everything on stock hardware locations. The filter holder and MAF holder will be attended shortly with some trick options to chose from. The filter element it self was a major concern
as we have considered, foam, oiled cotton and dry filter. We will try some different combos and pick the best performing unit.
We will be able to offer both a CF and a gel-coat glass version with substantial savings in cost.
I wish I could show some images, but the competiton is snooping around..
More to come very soon.

Yep - that's why I won't show my hand early either, as our intake is truly unique, and modular! We are also going to be offering several new options that will be offered on both the R56 and R53 set up.
We are also actually building it in house, just like our R53 SportBox - no outsourcing here! We are doing the development, testing, manufacturing and distribution here in Colorado .
Stay tuned!

We might, we might not have ours on display at MITM. I am more interested in having the product right and industry leading then having lots of captive MINIacs! I honestly am toning down our marketing. I am not doing this to sell more than anyone, or have bragging rights. I simply want to have the best product for my own car, so I am basically selfish!
We are very seldom first to market, and the reason is because of our incredibly thorough test regime, required to offer our industry exclusive warranty. When I do bring something to market of our own design and build, it is something I am proud of and stand behind.
Can't wait to see your stuff at MITM too Peter! Sounds neat, lots of acronyms.

I wonder if theres any "baffles", or somthing similar to a restrictor plate that can be worked into the design to reduce (or even tune) airflow.
I really can't wait to see how things pan out.

I have a GruppeM intake on my 2004 MCS and I love it. This intake for the R56 looks awsome. (note: GruppeM is quite pricey. At least $1K for them due to the CF)

I've noticed that some companies have done their dyno tests without even an air filter . Now if there was ever too much flow I would think that might be the time. I wonder how they get good numbers with no warning lights under this configuration ?
