Toy junky Mike! hehe... can't wait to see it on the run Sunday? I'm sure in the heat of Phoenix you'll really notice it come summertime.

Here is a pic. As you can see I cut my lower grill. It is not necessary to do it. I just thought it would look good. Not sure if I am going to keep it that way or not. Anyone got any ideas?

Yes, the car has more power. How much is hard to tell since it was already pretty fast. I think this will help with consistancy more than anything, especially come summer here in AZ.

The exhaust was done by AZ power and sound who I do not think is in business anymore.

Thumper, you in AZ too?

Hahaha, the OBX header on my R53 was installed there.

Yes I'm in AZ. Not at the moment though, I'm living in London till April 19th...then I'll be back in S-Dale. Hopefully my R56 will be in by then...we'll have to finally meet up then!

Sounds good! Been driving the car more today. The car really has seemed to adapt. It's actually much faster. If I cam make some time I will take it back to the DYNO.

Lower grill could prevent larger debris from smashing into the Intercooler.

Yeah I agree. I was contemplating the M7 lower grill... not quite sure yet. I can say that the ALTA FMIC is much more heavy duty than the stock unit. Looks like it would be difficult to puncture it, but none the less still possible.

The ALTA units are a bar n plate core, that is much sturdier than the OEM unit. FAR more resistant to rocks, bugs, etc. than the OEM unit. Plus it is more efficient per cubic inch than the OEM style.

Mike: Love the body stripe with the ALTA in negative!

I know , I know. All this stuff is breaking me financially.....It's sooooo addictive though. I must say, my car absolutely fly's! Not sure if I could handle more power..........just kidding. I plan on getting the downpipe before summer. Putting boost guage on this week. Kinda curious how much boost I am running. Have you decided which route you are going with the ECU?

Finally got mine installed on monday,it seems to have made a nice difference in the overall performance of the car,the car is definitely faster. The JCW ECU seems to like it,I had Danny at Mini Corsa install the boost gauge as well, seems to pumping 15 to 16 lbs...consitantly on exceleration...I can't believe the size difference between the stock unit and the Alta unit...Real happy with the choice and the dealer told me it's a great addition, especially when the hotter weather starts to set in...This car is just to much fun...

Hi there, can I ask you something?
What I was told here in Greece is that the larger IC is a very nice and usefull modification, but will create some lag because the air has much more distance to travel. Is that correct?

By the way, I love this Black new IC, even though my car is Blue with white roof, I think it will be perfect...

Thank you

Hi there,
I just love the Stealth IC.
It is beautiful.

I would like to ask you the following.
What I was told is that an IC improvement, is a very useful one, but in stock turbo cars, will increase the turbo lag significanlty,
This is because the air has to travel much more distance.

Is this true?

Alta website on their intercooler page seems to indicate that the stock IC has a pressure drop of 2.2PSI and theirs is actually lower at 1.5PSI.

I would wait for info from ALTA themselves on this

That is true and is a result of the change in the core material vs. stock. There is NO difference in turbo lag from OEM core to the ALTA core. Common misconception but not true.

Thanks again folks! Keep me posted on any help I can provide!

Adam, a quick question.
A friend of mine went to order an ALTA FMIC from Lohen.
They informed him that they are testing the IC right now in order to check if there are any issues with the EU car, and after the results, they will release the product.
Why is this happening?
What I mean is that, isn't it the same FMIC for EU and US cars?
Thanks

Thanks for the question. We have a TON of EU clients from around the world (I generalize EU as all cars RHD and those without MAF sensors) that have installed that part with no change or alterations.

So the FMIC is the same in all world wide cars. I will let Lohen know as well.

Thanks again!
