Helix ECU Beta Testing

For those of you who are testing Helix's new piggyback system, how is it going? Are you sworn to secrecy or something? I am curious to how some of these are working, anyone got any feedback to give?

Thanks!

We actually haven't beta tested our software yet. We had a few things we wanted to work on with the tune to be sure it was right. Recently, we made some additional headway on the tune, more power and better driveability as well. Eric has hundreds of data logging miles on the car as well as dozens of dyno runs. We should be ready to accept beta testers really soon.

I know its taken us a few extra weeks, but it will be worth it.

Any ballpark date, and requirements/considerations for beta testers?

The last dyno chart we posted had gains of about 25 whp and 25 lb ft. As soon as we're ready, we will post another.

You mean date we will be accepting the betas for sure? Eric would have a better answer for that. It will be sooner then later though. He is pretty confident that we have it ready to go.

As far as requirements/considerations for beta testers, I ask that interested people from the Greater Philadelphia/NJ/DE area let me know. The main requirement besides being relatively local is patience. All product development process have delays. Potential beta testers should understand this. They might have to wait alittle longer then expected to test out the tune, but the wait WILL be worth it.

Oh, and if any potential beta testers are willing to bring cases of good beer or some good food to Helix, you would definately be in our good graces

If anyone is interested in being considered for beta testing, shoot me a pm.

Is that 25whp and 25ft-lb torque on a stock car?

What brand of suds would you like? I make some pretty good chili, too. I'll have to work on the 'patience' thing a little harder. But with winter coming on, it'd be nice to get a few warm testing days in to give it a proper evaluation...

Give it up Mike, you will always be slower than me. Your Mini is maxed with your exhaust and intake :-)
You must me climbling the walls waiting for who is going to make software first.
Don't forget to smile.
Peace

Nice gains, so basically a stock car with your tuning should be putting down 195 hp to the wheels and about 225 ft/lbs of torque then I have a nice aftermarket exhaust and home-made intake, so I'd say I should be around 200/235, give or take. I might have to make a trip out to your place in the spring for an install, this way its done right

Key word is "when". I think I have at least 4 months of fame, but it four months I should have 290whp.

LOL, we're still waiting for good ECU solutions for the R53, and here the R56 is getting mad attention! W00T for the power of sexy turbos and direct injection.

well, the car hasn't exactly been babied lately, so I don't think Eric has any current mpg numbers, let me ask him though.

I attached a dyno sheet of our car before and after the ecu work. Before, it had 161.5 whp and 155.2 lb ft and after it had 185.1 whp and 180.7 lb ft. Our dyno typically reads lower then others, so the numbers wont be as high as other, but the gains are still very real.

We haven't done any dyno testing for R56 intakes/exhausts/intercoolers yet, so I can't comment on the estimated power levels. When we do dyno them, I will post up the sheets and this way we can know for sure.

James, bring over chili AND beer and I can guarantee you will be welcome in the shop whenever you want to stop by.
