THE BOV RELEASES WHEN YOU LET OFF THE THROTTLE, THE WASTE GATE REGULATES TURBO PRESSURE!

I asked Forge about their instructions and got this as a reply:

Sir,

As is noted in the instructions, this particular photo is used for illustration purposes only to show where the spacer mounts.

It will obviously need to be installed in the opposite facing direction so as to facilitate reinstallation of the OEM valve on top of the spacer.

Kind Regards

So I think the "official" reply from Forge USA was: "Duh! Of course it's backwards!"

Yes it vents when you lift off. Higher RPM makes more boost and therefore a more noticable hissing noise. Just putting around town, though... pretty quiet IMO.

Quick question on installing the Forge Spacer. Do you really have to remove the radiator fluid tank to have room? Does anyone that install their Forge BOV w/o removing their radiator tank? plmk. thanks

Just installed the forge BOV this afternoon. Started at 2:08, tools put away and closed the hood at 2:38, piece of cake, 1 flat blade screwdriver, 1 3/16 allen wrench(or metric equivalent) and a 8mm socket to remove the radiator reservoir. complete removal is not necessary, simply remove the top hose, leave the bottom attached, remove the 8mm screw at the top, unclip it and move it to the side. no fluid spill, no mess with a cold engine. Pay attention to the hose clamps on the intake pipe, they are indexed to the pipe. The sound is fun when you push on it and subtle enough when you are taking it easy. No real performance added but a cheap thrill for $69 and a simple removal if you don't like it or need to pass a smog check.

Stupid question...
Why would a BOV effect your exhaust? You're blowing off the excess compressed atmosphere before it gets to the engine, right?

IF YOU ARE ASKING ABOUT PASSING A SMOG CHECK IT IS BECAUSE WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VENT TO THE ATMOSPERE, MUCH LIKE OPEN ELEMENT AIR FILTERS WILL NOT PASS SMOG IN CALIFORNIA. ACTUAL EMMISSIONS FROM THE TAILPIPE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THESE MODS AT ALL, BUT WITHOUT C.A.R.B. APPROVAL WE CAN'T PASS SMOG WITH THESE ITEMS INSTALLED

Piece of cake! like I said it irs subtle unless you are hard on the throttle. Time yourself and let us know your time to install.

Here is my video of the Forge BOV. Enjoy. It took 23 mins to install. (timed it) So far I love it. It doesn't get really loud until the higher RPM's so it's not bad at all in regular traffic. It does turn a few heads though.

You are absolutely correct. That last picture is has the inner tube facing the wrong way. I can not belive Forge has not corrected that instruction on there web site.

Yes it's backward in the picture.

If you have a long allen wrench or socket then you can get to the screws without taking any of the hoses off. Just pull the coolant tank out of the way that's how we install the Forge BOV adapters.

I was at Forge 2 weeks ago as they needed a R56 to test fit some parts, which resulted in me getting to keep them.

They have a new actuator for the turbo which they fitted to mine:

http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/con...product=FM207V

I was asked if I wanted to hear it or not and thinking it was a dump valve I said not so they left the spacer of which makes the noise. Still works as it should just without the noise.

Got the intercooler pipes and induction pipe fitted whilst I was there.

So how does the Forge BOV/uprated valve differ from the HKS BOV besides the location of the BOV's - Hope this makes sense
