I really like this idea of dual cores. Except I think you should have more of a transition from the lower(fatter core) to the taller(slimmer core).. Since air will follow the path of least resistance it seems like it would stick to the lower portion of this piece. Is there some sort of air diverter/guide inside the endtanks to encourage flow to the upper parts of the taller core?

We looked at this pretty carefully. The engineer said that at idle this could be an issue, but when flow increases, the pressure in the hot side end tank equalizes and distributes the flow evenly. We tested the hot side directly after dyno runs and the top cores were the same temperature as the bottom cores.

I also have to make a technical correction: It is a single core that is stepped in profile, and not actually two cores. When we release the product, it's name will reflect this, and probably be called 'Stepped core intercooler' instead of 'Dual Core'.

No, I was responding to BrandonSH's speculation about air flow through the intercooler.

I keep getting calls regarding the Forge knock-off of our design, so I may as well address it.

Until now, our stepped core intercooler design has never been done. We took the time to have the end tanks cast, versus welded from sheet aluminum. We (perhaps foolishly) posted the idea on the web to show what we were working on, and began testing. In testing, we found that the intercooler was so much more effecient, that we needed to package the intercooler with tuning to maximize the performance. We are working with GIAC to produce a tuning file specific for our intercooler, but being 3000 miles apart, the process isn't fast. We are close to release, but not yet there.

Apparantly in the mean time, Forge has stolen our design and released it to the public. What can I say, good on them from getting it to market faster.

You can be rest assured that when our intercooler is released, that it will be fully tested and tuned, and that we'll be best-to-market, if not first-to-market.

anything more on this ?

any idea on price as I know a few of us just won't pay the steep prices currently out there especially compared to how much Evo and WRX guys pay for theirs. Seems we are paying 200-300% more

yes any news. what about the tuning with it? i like the idea of the end tanks being cast. the forge is welded. will you guys show the temp improvment and put on something we can read and understand. if you guys can make the price less than alta and forge you will have a real winner.

The intake ferrule on the first prototype was 1/4" off so we had to make a new casting for that side. It set us back a bit but it's better than fixing problems during production and calling it 'generation whatever-point-whatever'.
