Drivetrain Today I took an Evo + WRX, not joking!
#1
Well, I'm not even finished with this project and today I achieved a milestone.
I was just going to the grocery store when...
The local import club (which I joined a week ago) was on their weekly cruise. I jumped in the line of about 20 cars. I pull in line in the 4th position just behind an '03 Evo and an '03 WRX. The light ahead turns yellow, so I shoot up to pull aside the Evo, the WRX was far right. I got the "what? are you kidding" look with the snickers.
That all stopped abruptly when I purged and sprayed!! A few good shots of the CryO2 super chilled the IC. If you all only could have seen the look on their faces as the white fog of gas swirled out the front hood scoop!! Suddenly it was all serious.
GREEN.
Neither the Evo nor the WRX ever put their nose ahead of me. Ever.
I'm not saying it was an easy "walk", but, all said and done, I stayed in front.
Now, this was only 0-80mph. traffic got in the way so I had to lift off.
Oh, and before anyone gets their "BS Meter" remarks going, this was witnessed by 20-30 people. All the other cars from the Cape Cod Imports club wwere right behind us at the light. When we all stopped at the mall parking lot, 20 -30 people came rushing over to the MINI, insisting of course that I pop the hood. The Evo and WRX drivers were shouting "NO, NO, Noooo!!! What the f@ck!! NO!" "How can a MINI run with an Evo!!?"
Oh, the Evo had a Tanaube exhaust and no rear seats. The WRX had exhaust. (have pics of both). I will arrange another run with a video as soon as I can, for all of you nay-sayers. Trust me, I am as shocked as you. But not nearly as shocked as them!
P.S. earlier in the day I walked a Jag XJSV12, and an early 70's Chevy Nova.

So far my mods are:
Madness intake
Alta air diverter, w/ water sprayer
Mania Pulley
CryO2 liquid CO2 spray system
Supersprint header
Magnaflow exhaust
H&R springs
Drilled & slotted rotors
coming soon, real soon...Hamann aero, Conforti ECU program, Quaife LSD, lightweight flywheel, clutch etc.
Yes, the Jag was well aware of his shortcomings, as I nearly parked my MCS in his trunk.

he never said it was an sti. i seriously doubt it was since it has 300 hp, the wrx does not. And could you explain this spray. was it like a hundred degrees out and you have a coolant system for intercooler? That would give you an advantage but still......well who cares. im glad you had fun. i didnt buy my mcs to drag race though. if you did maybe you should look into a gearing change-quaife has one i believe for the mcs since our beloved MINI's are not geared for 0-60.

I know he didn't say it was an STI...but the WRX and EVO are not equals. STI and EVO are closer matched why I mentioned the STI. A highly modded WRX on the other hand is quite frightening. I'd be curious to see some 1/4 mile times from your MCS...I know there's a 13 second MINI lurking out there

Bisch,
You da man! I didn't disbelieve you for a second, even before I got the Evotech and Pulley, I had my experience with a WRX and he didn't embarrass me then, their power range takes a bit of time to spin up. I had a mid 90's Formula Firebird for lunch on the hiway today, I love these little cars when tuned!
Confirmed Kills:
Formula
Lexus IS300
Ford ZX3
Porsche Boxer (non S)
I've picked my prey pretty selectively, I was beaten by about 2 lengths by a nice Ford Cobra, but he even pulled over to ask me what I was running in it, I told him it's just a little 4-banger with an exhaust and he couldn't believe it....guess I fudged a little. Take care. I wished those who bought their cars for poseing would not make comments here but in the general mini talk arenas. Motor on!

Push it up against the Pro's
Make some QT vids!
I would Like to see you get on the track... Put a Pro in your MINI, A **** in the EVO and a Pro in an STI.... I could predict the STI to push ahead, with the EVO chasing up next then Your MINI Screaming down... It would be close.. for about 4 seconds... the the STI'd watch both of you shrink in his mirrors.
That's just my guess.

you guys make me so jealous....every day I get ever more annoyed at how little my strong hearted cooper pulls.
I'm planning on getting a project car now, rather than modding my cooper to DEATH, but I am still goign to do all the classic bolt ons and a chip, HOPING that by that time it actually puts my head into the head rest a little when pulling from the line (is say...145 hp too much to ask for? )
anyone think that
headers+exhaust+intake+chip=145bhp ?

Just to clarify, I did not buy this car to turn it into a dragster. I bought this car as a project. To put it to the extreme. An all-around road machine. I am not nearly finished with the modifications. I have owned it for two weeks and have had very little time to work on it because of my schedule. Every free hour I have, I'm turning wrenches on it. I'm not saying it will eventually take every car on the road, but it will shock many people as a strong competitor.
This drag with the Evo/WRX just happened to present itself, and I took advantage of the opportunity.
My last car was a Lexus IS300 (some mods, of course), and already my MCS can run circles around it.
