FORGE me! inter cooler / Intake / BoV Pssssst!

So....Finally got the forge stuff i been waiting for, Thank you PETE from MINSPEED for getting to me right away with the goods...

FORGE INTER COOLER as expected from forge a piece or art, plus comes with a replacement lower grille and all the hardware to re use you OEM tubes or replace them with samco made silicon hoses.

FORGE INTAKE carbon fiber close element does not made the truckie sound and keeps the air cooler (Duh -)

I already had the BoV by FORGE which now Psst! proudly next to the other ware...

While I was at Minspeed I could not help walk out with the super nice tower braces by Craven. I dropped the JCW stru bar which was more for looks then anything else this pieces look and mean business, neat stuff..beefy!

I am not sure what the numbers are and I really do not care much about the out come, but what I can attest is on the quality of the product and the way made my ride go faster, I can certainly feel the difference on 3er 4th 5th and 6th specially when pressing hard, Shifting light are going crazy in the last 2 days lucky I been busy at work so i have not been out much, but i been prowling for victims..hehehe

Final word >>>>>>>> Happy as hell !

Truckie Sound

Are you saying that the intake causes the car to sound better at idle?

If not, is there anything that cleans up the sound at idle?

How much for the intake?

I guess its hard to tell since you added a BOV, but does that intake increase the sound of the stock bypass valve like the Alta does?

It looks beautiful for sure!

Forgive me if I'm totally off base here, but where is the intake pulling the cooler air in? They mention pulling cool air from the front of the car, but I don't see any opening in the carbon fiber housing and I'm assuming it's pulling air in through the hose leading down towards the bottom opening in the engine bay.

Is it pulling air from the hose that leads down towards the opening in the engine bay (pulling air from under the car)? I can't see too well in the picture, but it looks like there's still a clamp on the bypass valve below the intake valve and I can't tell if the hose leading into the carbon fiber housing is connected to that or passing below it and the clamp was just left on an open pipe.

I have Alta's CAI and if this intake leaves the bypass pipe open like Alta's it should sound exactly the same.... correct?

Speaking of the intercooler...

Has anyone ran across comparison numbers between forge and alta's?

Forge claims 9 degree centigrade reduction (48 Fahrenheit)
Alta says they get about 40 or more (From 150 F to "never more than 110 F")

Are there other considerations like air flow cause they both seem to reduce temperatures about the same.

I guess it comes down to, are there any performance differences between the two worth $70 - $100?

I do have to say that there is more information on Alta's site than there is on Forge's

If you follow the fresh air hose you'll see it actually comes out by the grill on the drivers side of the car (I know because I accidentally disconnected it when installing my Alta CAI... don't ask me how )

The M7 tube came in later. Thank you GB

I can see the performance with the intercooler mostly after 4K and 3er and more...I think this piece will keep my little zero7 better breathed when I can fit a bigger turbo.

As far as the intake in my opinion all of the products out there will benefit this beloved MINI of ours, I like the enclosure of the Forge, I am a CF addict, yep I admitted. So ..Tha was my pick.

I like the non intrusive sound of the air going thought a carbon box, the down shift sounds great and the Bov pssst! all along, I like it, I first I was unsure of the whistle of the Bov but now I am used to it and I can even module the pssst! by giving the right throttle.. cool.

The Forge pieces are top notch, and well delivered instructions.

I wanted to capture the process but it was done too quick and I got really busy at that point...But the replacement grill is a cool factor.

I guess I just have to see about getting the bigger turbo ..maybe Morego will help me.

I got my Forge FMIC from Peter at MINSPEED.NET too and i love it! had it for about 1500 miles and the car feels like it doesn't drop power in the higher RPM range like it did with out it. Looks good too!

If I may add one more impression on the Forge Intercooler and Bov and intake..Sound wise it did not change enough for me to notice. but the performance of my MINI has increased, after running all morning long, I can tell the response of my blue zero7 is right up there, before I could feel the response will decresed after running a while, specially in the florida heat.
I can really wait to fit the larger turbo.
