i'm telling you now, you don't want to take the cat out. It's going to be really loud and cops are going to pull you over where ever you go. Trust me, i have experience. Your car is going to smell like a 1932 Ford three window coupe.

how about simply remaining GREEN as a reason to run a cat . Secondly, its been demonstrated that you can opt for a high flow CAT, not compromise performance.

I ran without a cat when I installed my OBX. I just used a o2 simulator, no CEL.

It's not that great though...it's really loud. I love loud, but its not a good loud, sounds kinda "ricey." And yes, it does smell...but it is wonderful when you run race gas . I ended up adding a high flow cat though, mainly for sound reasons.

Agreed. My Megan w/o cat was awfully noisy (emphasis on the awfully). I run a CMC header and race cat nowdays. A little quieter and greener. Both good things.

And nevermind the fact that our cars generally make MORE power running in closed loop operation w/ a catalytic converter. I honestly don't understand why this topic comes up so often.

I agree....my old 600HP Mustang, my 1932 and 40 Fords didnt have them...my Mini wont have one (Im running no catback at the moment) and the BMW wont have any either. Oh and Im chopping 2 of 4 out of my Touareg. If I didnt have to pull the motor to get the other 2 out...I would kill those too....

I'm sorry, but that statment can vary from location, and is not necassarily true. I'm running an open ALTA with a Magnaflow Cat-back and sure it's loud, but I've never been pulled over for it. My exhaust is only loud when I want it to be. And yes it does smell, mine smells like a 2-stroke dirt bike. Ah....how I love the smell...
