Stupid newbie question about exhaust....

Sitting here watching the Italian job. Why does the exhaust sound so good on those cars?

a) are the motors really built? (doubt it)

b) just got the right exhaust on it?

c) sound is dubbed in (and they're really using an F1...lol)

If they just have great exhaust, what is it? Typically most aftermarket exhausts on 4 cylinders sound like bees buzzing. The minis on the Italian job sound great.

Thanks,

Mark

PS. Is this movie where "stella" comes from?

Some had to be dubbed because they used electric cars in the subway scenes

Probably because on a movie set they dont need to run legal stuff like cats and resonators that really restrict sound on the street.

JCW Sound kit for the 1st gen Cooper. Basiclly intake, filter and exhaust if I remember right.

Many go ga-ga over the SC whine... but that sound kit on a 1st gen Just-a-Cooper is awsome IMO.

If you want the real sound then go for a test drive in the MINI of your choice.

Absolutely, if you don't mind, I'd love to hear your mini. Please send me a sound clip and let me know which exhaust it is.

Thanks,

Mark

for the sound for the Mini cooper in The Bourne Identity the sound designers used a motorcycle engine and pitched it down IIRC.

Hollywood can do whatever they want to get it to sound like whatever they want

So I guess the tape recorder duct taped to the roof of my car with a sound recording clip won't make it sound the same as in the movies, huh?
