Initial pull:
155.4 hp @6700 (May 2007 at PSMINI club event)
150 torque @ 4000 (May 2007 at PSMINI club event)
Jan Tune event pull
185.8 hp @ 6900 (6/20)
171.3 torque @ 3854 (6/20)
Final pull
198.8 hp @ 7200 (later adjusted to 196.2 with better A/F balance)
173.2 torque @ 4027
Total gain
Horsepower: 16.9%
Torque: 1.9%
Why put in two different inititial pull dates? Well, frankly, to show the difference one simple little $25 part makes. That part? a NAPA 535 belt! If you have not purchased this belt (or any other shorter belt, I recommend that you run -- don't walk -- down to your preferred auto parts store and make this investment).
Pics and video on the other thread.
Hard to see the final line on this. It's in yellow, not red.

Like anything, it's subjective so the best thing is to go for a ride. I can give you one if you're ever in the area.

That would be very cool. Thanks. I'm wondering thatif you have an aftermarket exhaust like my MM would it(combo) be too loud-l(like the Volt I got from DT ( still for resale) too loud. I like the rumble not the rice, especially on let off of throttle you know the rrrrrrrr. I would very much like to take time to share rigs. All about the learning

Hey Guys! i hope everyone is having a blast! In an earlier post on this topic, ear to ear said he had a GIAC tune already-so does this mean Mr. B can tweak this software into better performance, and still keep it GIAC or is it now RMW? So if I had EVOTECH for example working fine , it can be goose into better performance with Mr.B's massaging. I was thinking, since all the hubbub over pure13 and our reaction, that perhaps I could find a spot with you down there to use my car as another test -good, bad, indifferent since I'm at stage 2. I got cash, wife's out of town with the kids- but am working today and live in Ferndale(Bellingham), but could be there @crack o dawn on Sunday if possible, if not, no sweat, just trying to make it right for all of the membership base, be a stand up guy,and to find out for myself,so as to check on my EVOTEC purchase-If we find a problem in EVOTEC I buy the beer-360-957-5636 ask "the Man" if willing -if not cool too wish him well and thanks for helping our club members.

Alta 15% v2 pulley
Alta CAI v2
Alta TMIC v1
Alta ICC's
Alta Fanboi Conversion
One-ball
JCW 380cc injectors
JCW BKR7EQUP plugs
Napa 535 belt
Costco 92 octane
Initial pull:
184.3 hp @ 6656
168.1 tq @ 3700
Final Pull:
197.7 hp @ 7300
176.2 tq @ 3912
My tune began particularly lean.. to the point Jan asked "Are you sure you have 380s?" My 380s were ordered from Helix and installed by me 2 weeks ago so the ECU should have already done most of its adapting. I have theories about the lean condition but I'll leave them as theories and not explain them here. Other than that, my tune had no drama whatsoever, just three runs and done.
The curve is delightfully smooth with none of the dips and wobbles I saw on a lot of charts. The delta Jan was able to achieve with my car was amazing - there are points on the chart where the delta was 19 ft-lbs! This was in the 3200-3350 rpm range where he was able to make a FAT helping of torque - of course almost everywhere on the chart was +10 ft-lbs or more except at the torque peak.

I finally got back home to Canada after 3 3/4 hours drive. The line-up in the border was long as today is the first day of summer. The trip was well worth every penny and time.
I am a happy camper and finally met my modding objectives of beating a stock JCW at less than half the price!
Jan did not want to get a baseline pull because my Shark Injector Software has too much advance timing of 36 that might damage my engine. It took at least 10 runs as Jan tried to fight back the erratic readings due to my fault of not torqueing my new spark plugs. They came loose!
For an '04 with 380 cc Siemens injectors, 15% alta pulley, ultrik CAI, & one-ball exhaust, I got 194 wheel horse power @ 6739 rpm and 168 ft-lb torque @ 4000 rpm. At 12% drivetrain loss, that is 220 HP at the crank! I have to add * to my numbers as my exhaust was leaking where the one-ball pipe connector.
Jan is truly amazing and very personable guy. He cares about our cars. Nice meeting you!
The throttle response and the pick-up across the rpm band were significantly improved.
Nice to meet also Richard, Scott, Clint, & Dave.

One thing worth noting - if you have a Shark Injector, you might want to consider removing it. When scanned, the ignition maps were "scary" and Jan recommended against baseline-dynoing said car without significant changes to the timing map.
NAM Disclaimer (isn't this sad?): This was not my car. I have no affliation with RMW, Dynapack, Speed Factory, or Mini USA other than being a happy customer. I have no quarrels against Jim Conforti, Turner Motorsports, Mini USA, BMW of NA, Santa Claus, or the woman working at Subway with the track marks in her arms. I am merely reporting what was observed using specialized equipment operated by industry experts.

Nice meeting you..I like those BBS mesh wheels. It is good that I only redlined my car once just to check if the Shark really increased the rev limiter, otherwise it could have done great damage. Unlike Evotech, the Shark has fuel mapping but the timing is way advanced and running rich.
Jan agrees that in 04 there was not much software tune choices in the market at that time. I was Sharked -$360.

Jan's tune (or anyone elses) will overwrite the existing map, but he can keep the good parts if there are any. He just tweaks what needs it. It would be considered an RMW tune for sure.

Ok here are my results form this mornings tune.
Mods....
15% pulley
Alta CAI
One-ball
JCW NGK plugs
380 injectors.
Baseline pull was 195 hp and 174 tq ! Again an 04 with a very strong motor. Jan said again he was very suprised with the numbers that came up on my car. It is a very early (10/03) 04 build.
Tuned pull was 206 hp and 178 tq .
Not the huge numbers that some saw but I am very happy with the overall drivability. The throttle response mod and traction control being reigned are a very welcomed additions to the tune.
Thanks to Clint and to Jan for working his magic once again.
