I will ring you on Monday if that is a-ok! It might become obvious once I have the M7 shield in hand though.

Thanks again!

Can I have some of that popcorn? I am a bit frustrated as I sit here getting ready to drive 3 hours to a local-ish MINI event and I don't have shields as they never sent them to me.

I will still keep up my end of the bargain once I get them in!

Chat soon folks!

I got mine put on today. It does have the elongated holes. Fit was just fine and I verified clearances using modeling clay. It showed 1/4" of clearance at the closest point.

I will try to get some pics showing the clearance tonight.

Adam,
It took about 3 weeks for mine to get here. I had actually thought I had forgot to order it!

drno: honestly the parts never showed up! I have pushed and pushed but as I understand it, the parts FINALLY came in on like Friday afternoon. I was prepping a car that we just sold and didn't get a chance to fiddle with one, then the warehouse shipped the bulk of them out. As soon as I have one to play with I will for 100% publish the promised feedback! Thanks for asking!

looks like i spoke too soon----a rub spot in the same area as with the original shield has appeared in less than 100 miles. its smaller and now 1 rather than 2 and is located 1 inch medial from the medial side of the o2 sensor hole caused by the leading edge of the shield. you can see paint on the shield but the finish on the shield has not been rubbed off (at least not yet and not like the original)

Can you post pictures of the replacement one you received from M7.
The fixed version I received is drastically different from the previous one. Much more than a simple hole adjustment.

Could this m7 heatshield be installed in conjunction with the WMW turbo wrap... ???

and if so, do you think it would be a good/effective/or safe idea ... ?

i could not tell the difference in the 2 except for the holes. in a conversation with m7 they said only the holes were changed--how does yours differ?

Yep, checked mine too and I have slight rubbing with the new one. Time to take a closer look and some mods to it I was thinking about. I even had checked clearances with clay. So there must be enough engine movement that causes it to rub. HMMMMMMMMMMMM....

Speaking of engine movement...
Most of the time when I have the bonnet open and I'm tinkering around, if the car's ever on, my intake shakes a good bit all the time !!@!@!$#%# ????
I don't know if it's just the way the engine was meant to be, shaking, or if the rubber contacts that the intake mounts into are just too loosened from me taking the intake in and out and in and out several times ... ??

1) The holes are enlarged.
2) The area that fit over and in front of the 02 sensor is completely open.
(Think from the M7 emblem to the first vertical bend is gone.)
3) By the right hole one of the short metal overhangs has been removed.
4) The aerogel blanket is the same shape. However the new metal cuts allow it to be seen. IMHO, this causes the appearance to no look as sharp as the previous design.

Pics below:

you got the latest revision. just got an email from m7 that they totally re designed the shield with the cut outs you pictured and the rounded edges. they are sending me the new one and a return fed ex slip for the return. once again they are doing everything possible to satisfy their customers and i take my hat off to them . great customer service is hard to find these days!!
