Emission Fault Code Suggestions?

Check engine light (orange outline) was intermittent. Took in to dealer (Canada), but light went off on way. History check showed 27 instances of what the service manages calls 276A.

Light came back on a few days later. Light seems to be on all the time now. Car runs great. Really great.

Dealer wants the car "returned to stock" to investigate. Car has Alta turboback. Lots of time ($) to replace with my stock exhaust. Then perhaps to find out they'd like more stuff taken off (inlet, intake, intercooler, boost tubes.)

suggestions?

WTF is 276A? That would be a good start.

The 276A is a catalytic converter efficiency error if I remember correctly. I'd suggest contacting ALTA about it since you have their downpipe and the problem is probably being caused by the cats in the downpipe.

You don't mean a 276 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 - Circuit Intermittent ? A loose connector that finally fell off?

Get it scanned somewhere and see what the actual P-code is. That will point you in the direction of the offending part. Chances are it is the replaced catalyst. Dealer has every right to ask you to replace aftermarket with stock parts, especially for a cat code when you're running aftermarket cats. He really is being nice to not charge you for diagnostics already (mine would have).

the 276A is the actual fault code. I have the same issue, on my ScanGauge II OBDII reader it displays as U3FFF error but when I took it for service they got a 276A fault code. The first time they didn't charge me, the second time when I asked for a print out of the fault codes I was charged for I think half an hour of labor. But yes, it is either a bad or weak cat or 02 sensor.

I'm waiting to hear back from ALTA myself on the results of catalytic converter tests. ALTA has sent some of them back to the manufacturer for testing.

That's important info. Thanks. Please let us know what happens.

I'm guessing you mean Simpson's car. FWIW, I've had no issues with the gen. 3 pnp ecu. (But I've had it off the car for a few weeks just in case; engine warning light come on without it)

The ECU seems to compound the problem by making them more frequent but I still get them even if I remove the PnP ECU. The last I heard ALTA is still waiting to hear back on the testing the manufacturer is performing on some of the units that have had issues.
