Alta Boost Tubes Causing Check Engine Light
ok finally got the cold side on after destroying my hands and refitting the pipe so it is on correctly without leaking but during my second check the check engine light came on and is still on after properly fitting it i cant hear leaks any more even under heavy acceleration but the light is worring me.... i have not installed the hot side from the turbo to the intercooler yet anyone think that might be the problem? not enought air on the hot side too much on the cold?

First you guys should post this stuff in the mods section.
that aside, two things;
- Are you positive you have no leaks? did you disconnect the battery terminal prior to working on the car, did you double check the fitment after a test drive to ensure everything is still tight and mounted right?
-Did you call Alta, they are willing to help.

it makes the exhaust a lil more deeper but not much but you definatly hear the turbo spool alot more than with just an intake and it definitly a quicker spool and better high end torque
id say get it but look into exhaust depots theres is metal and you can get it with an hks bov and you can order it through them and have them put on the bov
overall toughness on installing is a 3 out of 5 alta makes it seem easier than it really is the steps of installing are a peice of cake its just the removing the oem and putting on altas thats a PITA
hope i helped add me on your buddy list and i can give you pointers and tips to make the install easier when you decide to do it

Your hand is like that of a "fair maiden" compared to mine after that install! But all is well now and I have never had any leaks or CEL coming on in well over a month. Presently waiting for my red CAI to finish up under the hood.

LOL. My hands were also much worse. I had some pretty big gashes on my left hand that stayed with me for a while.

I had a CEL come on also (with my setup). Its due to a leak in the hose somewhere. You have to check that the clamp is on good or it will leak. If you dont know what to listen for it will be hard to hear the leak unless its really a big one.
What I did to find mine was to lift the car off the ground with the lift. I turned traction control off then had my cusotmer get on the gas. I found it right away when the car went into boost. YOu cant really find it just reving it.

Hey folks just a couple points to ponder:
sk8erguyzach:
1) The tubes can't cause a CEL if installed properly.
2) I know we spoke via PM, and you mentioned a connection being left loose on the T/B.
3) Glad you got that connection corrected.
4) From our conversation the ECU must have worked to correct the CEL.
PLEASE let me know if I can ever help you or any other members in the group!
THANK YOU ALL!

FYI: WEAR GLOVES
This part is a bugga to install without bleeding with bare hands. Having been a wrench for going on 20 years now, I can't stress enough the importance of a good pair of gloves when working on cars.
They keep you fingers clean (the significant other will love that), they help prevent bleeding, burns, improve leverage etc etc.
I use two pairs of gloves. One inner is a just a rubber or latex, then the outer is more of a mechanics type glove. Then if I need to remove the outers (too big or need to do detail work) then I am still covered on the inside.
Some of the best $20 you can spend in your tool kit!
Thanks again folks!
