I actually thought about doing option 2 myself! I wonder if it would work, i mean if you think about it, it makes sense. The 02 sensor will be reading fresh air so it will think that the catalyst is doing a FANTASTIC job at cleansing the air and shouldnt throw a CEL?
Id be really interested to try this, just need a way of doing it
FYI - i tried simply unplugging the rear 02 sensor from the ECU, it didnt like it very much! Threw a CEL after about 20miles of driving, it went away when I plugged it back in though But if you kept it plugged in at the ECU end but just tied it up somewhere under the car, this should technically speaking work?
Anyone tried this?

Interesting... I will have a go at doing this and see if my light goes off!
IIRC my R53 was done like this (that was also de-cat) and I never had any CEL light issues there
I believe the company who did my de-cat (GTT from the UK) just tied the 02 sensor up in a plastic bag (to protect it from the rain etc) under the car somewhere and then fitted a 'bung' into the manifold opening where it had been originally...
I will try this this weekend and report back
fingers(and toes) crossed

Interesting i have bought a full de-cat the same as in the picture, its from a french tuner and should be here by the end of the week, i am going down the anti-fouler route in order to "hopefully" not throw a cell! time will tell im well excited.

If you have testing in your state then that 100 cel cat will fail with the quickness.
On some cars you can remove the sensor from the exhaust stream and it works, in this one I dont think it will because it will be to sensitive.
Also not having a cat or having a cat that does not filter enough is not the only reason you trigger a cel. If your sensors does not reach operating temperature with in x amount of time it will trigger a cel too (on some cars) so by having it totally out of the system it will not heat up quick enough.
The sensor has a heating element inside to warm up but the exhaust gases get it to temperature quicker with in x amount of time.

If the cel light turns on It doesnt bother, with the emision test I have no problem at all..

Those who i sell a catless DP i tell them straight up, I dont promise that you will not get a check engine light. YOu have 20 year old, heck i even had a 18 year old and they dont care about CEL etc. Then you have some who track their car who dont care also.
