Too slow in 3rd gear or higher

ok we all nkow our mini's pull the best in 1st and 2nd gear, but what are the possibilities of getting more pull out of 3rd and 4th? every honda that sees me always want to run when im already in 4th gear and dropping to second just puts me at to high an rpm to get any real acceleration.and im tired of lossing to hondas!

so what could get me more pull out of 3rd and 4th gear?

my power mods

08 MCS/3inch magnaflow cat back no 2nd cat or resinator,alta boost tubes,forge bov,K&N cai

not to steal the thread - buutttttt

my friend has a 335i and got the dinan stage 2 tune from BMW (ONLY has the tune) and got a huuugggeee power gain, hp and torque, its beyond ridiculous.

either way - i cant wait to get a tune on my car, im just torn between getting a live tune at Helix, or getting a piggyback like the Unichip.

and how can you lose to a honda? if you cant get em in 4th, go to third. third is a good gear for strong and hard acceleration.

Yea, we have 335i Coupe, and I've definitely looked at the tunes out there for em, they look pretty awesome.

he said he beat a ferrari 355 in a straight line race with his stock + tune 335i. sounds pretty impresive to me. i think he said hes got like 485tq, i dont remember his hp figures though.

that amazes me that he can pull that out of JUST a tune! the best part is, the dealership WARRANTIES and INSTALLS the tune! i wish dinan came out with something like that for mini. orrr, moreso i wish the JCW tune could be modified for non-jcw parts...id be allll over thattt

I dont understand what you are saying I never race in 1st and 2nd because I dont like those gears for me the best one is 3rd and 4th.I dont get grip in 1st and 2nd. The faster you go the better the mini gets.

The only honda that has ever won a race was a RSX type S with 230whp and I only had 205whp and I stayed in his bumper. Not even the S2000.

Sorry for changing the conversation but this is my car rolling at 2nd gear.

This is with Toyo T1R.

You have to learn to drive you car, if you are going to race with somebody you need to be at least at 3,500 rpm better at 4,000 rpm.

He has like 235+ ft-lbs of torque to the wheels I believe....

Has nothing to do with how he drives...

his car is sick! =] I <3 3.5k rpm pulls! if only it kept going to say.. 7.5? =] anyways, im tired of having a slow mini, but by NO means do i get beat by a honda =p

I use 2nd gear, but sooner or later i need to use 3rd if i upgrade. or for a win situation, slow down to a 20 roll that will get them

Need a better suspension setup, specifically shocks, and then you won't have that issue...Perfect example: When my car was all stock, I could easily spin the tires, but now after upgrading the suspension even with waaaay more power I don't have a traction problem.

well i race in 1st and 2nd with stocks continental tires and get traction with the dsc off , they have the most power and i have beatin that same honda in 2nd gear

im wanting more pull in 3rd 4th like you get and was wodering about how to do that but i now see an intercooler, ecu, and downpipe will do the trick
thanks

He got 185lb-ft torque increase from a tune? Doesn't the 335i come with 300hp/300lb-ft? 485lb-ft of torque from a tune seems crazy..

I can't say I've ever been beaten by a stock Honda, even the SI, in any gear. Though I did get handed to by some sleeper Honda CRX, but it was close... he was pulling so slowly away. This is all stock too... I guess there aren't too many modified vehicles around here in South Texas.
