Why?
There are 2 mini's in the UK that I know of with large turbos on them, but neither of them are forum members (any forum that is)
Its a shame, but some people really dont care about forums or sharing experiences.

True. I knew a guy who had a turbo R50 for years and he never went on any MINI forum.

Just how he casually mentioned it. He's been a member long enough to have seen all the discussions on larger turbos and tuning, and then he just comes in here and says "oh yea, im running a GT25." I know it's different in the UK, but here in the US there is no ECU tuning available to us, so thats another reason why I doubt it. This is the main reason Alta never finished their GT25 kit. (Well, it was pretty much finished as far as I know but they never released it...).

Like I said though, hope he proves me wrong . The R56 community can really benefit from his experience and knowledge with it.

Problems with tuning so I put my stock turbo back on.... Ecu constant cel so I'm postponing keeping my turbo until better ecu stuff exists... I've been having problems with the unichip pnp... But while things were good I was making 250whp at redline and 278lbft @ 3200rpms with torque falling off from there on... So no huge plateau of torque... I'm going to see what the stock turbo can do with Alta's upcoming reflash... I'll keep u all posted on that... Meanwhile, anyone want a gt2560r with 200miles on it??

I can get u guys a dyno from the turbo upgrade... Best way to describe power change is Alta's graphs... Minus the good tuning they did

I'm going on a limb but I'm guessing Alta was having the same unichip problems that I have...ergo them not releasing a turbo kit

Ok, i think you are really confusing all of us lol....

So you are running a GT25 right now? You just said you're back to stock...?

Anyway, no suprise the harness is fried...no, its not from engine heat...it just sucks period . Hold on to the turbo though my friend...hopefully someone will be able to tune your car real soon!

Hmm all that work to fit a turbo and you even have figures your randomly shouting out 250whp ? Ok so wheres the pictures or videos ?

Nobody does all that work with no proof or representation of the work carried out. And if you planned using your PnP ecu to run the bigger turbo you clearly werent thinking straight. Or perhaps you didnt do it at all

So which is it ??? From your posts your one minute trying to sell your gt2560r and the next your saying 'hold on guys' i will have it all sorted and working within the month!

Fernflex you must have a very good sense of smell

quick run down... 5 months of planning and getting everything together... 3 weeks of tuning, 2 weeks or running turbo, quick dyno right after tuning, and then bye bye PnP harness :( so put simply, yeha, it was basically all for nothing at this point ... bright side is that soon as a decent reflash is available i have everything i need already. that being said, i sure as hell hope that RMW is getting done better than i am at the moment... my bragging rights just went down the S*** hole...

Coopman, you're makin some really nice numbers on ur MINI!!!... do you think P-Torque would have all the stuff for a tune of a GT2560R? i have most of the basic tuning mapped out already from when i had theunichip running... so maybe that would speed things up...

Will at P-Torque can def tune/map the ecu for that turbo so you should definetly drop him an email or a call and speak to him about it because he will be doing mine very soon

We dont have MAF sensors on EU spec cars though (isnt this why you guys in the States are having problems with ecu tuning ?)

I for one would love to see you with this up and running asap

HAHA yeeeeahhh... that MAY be problematic considering i'm from Philadelphia :P however if you can PM me his number i'd LOVE to talk to the guy about the possibility!! maybe there's some way to bypass the MAF sensor??

I was also thinkin maybe giving AC Schnitzer a call... they may have some intel on what's up with US MAF tuning... cuz i'm pretty sure they had the first reflash and GIAC quickly followed...

I know he did it for an Italian car! They shipped him the ECU and he worked his magic on it and pinged it back their way... when they refitted it they had a tasty 215bhp straight away...
If you could be without your car for about a week, im sure he could do it...

Thats what i was thinking but the differences in EU/US cars might be where the problem lies. That car from Italy got way more than 215bhp didnt it ? Or am i thinking about the K03 hybrid that got done and the 215bhp is from a standard car ?

i think the 215 may be the turbo you're thinking of... cuz that was the only upgrade the guy got i believe....

They have this on their website....

NEW!! R56 Mini Cooper S
TUNING VIA OBD!

P-Torque are proud to announce that they are now offering tuning all R56 Cooper S models via the OBD port with no ECU removal!

Software only = 205bhp and 235lbs/ft

Software + Milltek Exhaust = 230bhp

Software upgrade for factory JCW models = 250bhp

The 215bhp is from a standard car i.e no turbo work.. The 280bhp+ i told you about in PM is the remap done on a hybrid K03 car

Will has been doing the remaps for a long time Let me know what you hear!

i was thinkin about it tho, there has to be some way to get a UK style power output by bypassing the MAF sensor (simple unplug??)
