Exhaust adventure!

I finally took the dive last week and made the first big purchase for the MINI.

Alta's Turboback exhaust with the oval tip exit.

I have removed the entire OEM exhaust, and I cant even begin to explain how EASY this was. But thats also probably because my car has only been with me since December.

Stock Downpipe

Somethings missing???

entire exhaust downpipe back!

Now if only UPS would deliver to my house earlier than 4pm!!!

and...7 hours later UPS still fails me...

I wish Alta had an option to ship Fedex. At least they are on time if not early.

I shall post them up tomorrow asap. I have it installed. I need to do a bit of bending with the heat shields under the car because at low RPMs it likes to rattle it with that HUGE resonator.

I am absolutely happy with my purchase! I just need to make a few small adjustments on the tip and such. No CEL (thank goodness!)

and sounds AWESOME. Its actually VERY quiet with the full turboback. I could barely hear it with the windows down, but then again I have bad hearing anyways.

GLAD the UPS truck made it! Yee ha!!!!

If you need any tips on tweaking those shields, let me know! The system will get a bit louder in about 100 miles. So stay tuned!

Thank you again for choosing ALTA!

Haha, I think I might need some tips on modifying it. Especially around the resonator it seems to hit the shield no matter what.

And yes, that is in fact a VR6 block sitting in my garage. I owned a 1993 Corrado before this, and did WAY too much to it. lol.

VW was a true money pit:

But thats also because I had a T04S 60-1 on it. lol

HA! Funny you mention it. I have put about 30 miles on it...and the check engine JUST came on on the way home from a drive....

I am going to check the v-band clamps before anything, but first I am going to wait for the car to cool down a little...

Get ready for the CELs. They are comin'! Buy a Scanguage or DashDyno SPD while you are ahead. I love my Alta turboback exhaust and a lot of their other parts, but the fact that they can't straighten out the CEL issue is annoying. However, the system sounds and FEELS great!

Gilboyto: Check the code for sure, then Do NOT clear it. Leave it on and it will likely turn off the lamp and leave the code (if it is related to the DP) into pending status.

countryboy: I agree it is annoying. Saw your other post and replied in there as well. Also sent you a PM. Lets get this handled for you ASAP!

Thanks again folks!

Interesting. Well the check engine indicator in the tach shows up everytime my car starts. If it were to go away, how long would it take? Also, am I able to just take my car to like AutoZone and have them scan it, or do I need to actually get it done at MINI?

I think it is a good idea to have it scanned at least once. Write down the codes that you get (from AutoZone or similar) and then PM those to me. Have the tech clear the codes and move on. By the time the light comes back on (hopefully it won't) I should have had an opportunity to check them out. It is normal for the light to come on at start up.

In my experience on my 08 that had a DP related light, it went out at startup and always after about 20-30 start cycles over a few days.
