Not quite on the exact topic, but close.
Anyone ever not had the bypass tube connected back into the intake? Would that make it act more like a blowoff valve going to the atmosphere? Would the car still run right assuming that was able to seal off the port on the black plastic tube?
Just a random thought...

Well, people have closed the BPV shut --which effectively does what you suggest. You can't have any leaks in the system, so if you just leave the valve to "blow off" you might get some weird effects when it opens--you'd lose any boost instantly.
Are you wanting that weird turbo blow off sound?

Last time I contacted him he was keeping a list of people who may be interested in a new AGS kit - however he thought that they would not get the numbers needed to make it happen

Not looking for sound, just anything that would gain something. I didn't even think about the fact that unless getting on it, basically all the air from the SC would be going straight back out to atmosphere. Not quite the same as a blow off valve now that I think about it...
Now blocking it shut completely, there's an idea. I wonder just how much air is "recycled" during normal driving and if having all the SC output going into the motor is detrimental during idle, or light throttle?

One of the main sticking points with this modification is that it will require that you cut and splice about an 8 inch extension into your throttle body control cable . Its not hard to do if you are handy at all with a soldering iron but it is not something we wanted to have as part of the install on something we were selling. No matter who ends up supplying these in the future that will be part of the install. The main issue is that the plug that connects into the TB can not be obtained from anywhere. Believe me we looked high and low. We thought we had a solution when we , make that me , were literally making the plugs ourselves. I mean to the point of cutting the 6 pins , sharpening them to a point on a grinding wheel and then using something called plastic powder to actually form a male plug. Between the time it took me to make each one and the fact that these were completely home made never gave us a sense of 100% reliability. Some came out fine but after we factored all the labor involved the money we would have to charge to actually make a profit it would have been priced it out of the Mini market. If anyone wants to proceed with this I will help as best I can. I have had mine on for going on 3 years now with no issues and still get a kick out of seeing peoples heads snap around looking for the source of that very unique sound from 100 yards away

That would be something I wouldn't mind doing either.
However, from a vendor's standpoint, there seems to be a lot of little quirks and reliability/safety issues involved, so it makes perfect sense why this isn't a practical product to produce.
I find it amusing, and quite sad, that I am not even concerned with the Hp/performance issue. I just want my SC to sound like that.
Randy, add me to your probably long list of potential buyers of your system if you ever take it off

My understanding is that M7 will not bring them back due to the issues Randy mentioned above.

Steve will be your best shot to get something like this unless someone else wants to undertake the project. Even though we had about 6 grand tied up in prototype molds we won't be going back to this. I only mentioned the wire issue so you guys would know up front . It really Isn't a big deal from a DIY perspective , we were just hesitant from a vendor standpoint to have people cutting up their wiring harness in order to make something that we sold work. It is the same with those vented fenders on my car . They were a huge pain in the butt to install and rather than sell something like that and have customer issues with the install we just decided not to continue with it as a product offering . I am more than willing to offer advice to anyone looking to come up with their own version. It really is worth the effort.

not to be a posuer, but I'd be more than happy to buy one of these just got the sound alone. any performance benefit would be like the cherry on top
put me on the list for one of these!!

Last time I contacted him he was looking at doing a small run.
Needed a minimum number before they would go ahead...

Dr.Steve & I were talking last night & the AGS v.4 is at the fabricator's as we speak. Both of our v.3 units are there getting some new CNC work done & they should be ready for install on our cars in <3 weeks. As far as what he's doing to our existing units it's just some small tweaks to improve supercharger fitment on an already solid design.
