Strange Problems.

Okay, so I started a thread a few months back stating that my car was starting rough in the morning and then would randomly throw a P0108 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input fault code. After it started up and smoothed out, it would stay on for a while, and then the light would go out. Since it has warmed up outside, this hasn't occured, until last Saturday. Cruising down to Pensacola, the light comes on. Same code. The lights been on since. Fast forward to this morning. On my way to work, I accelerate and the light starts flashing and then BAMM!!! Limp mode. I "limp" on towards the base. Funny thing, about 2 miles from the base, all of a sudden I have boost and the car runs like it's brand spanking new. I mean seriously, it was crisp and responsive. Once I get to the base, I see that the second fault code is a cylinder 3 misfire. My guess is is either a bad throttle position sensor or even a leak somewhere. Possibly at the throttlebody. I'm kind of at a loss right now, but this is what I've been going through for a while. Somedays the car runs great and other times it just runs crappy.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think its the throttle position sensor because it has its own code (I know from experience).

Other then that I have not a clue. I'm sure someone else can chime in and help out more.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I think I'm going to have to tear into evrything and make sure there's no leaks. That's all I can think of at this time.

How many miles are on your MCS? I had this happen and I replaced the MAP on the intake manifold and a good measure installed a DT BPV. I have an 06 with 70k now haven't had an issue since which was probably 6-8 months or 15-20k ago

Thanks Checkmate. She has 50,200 miles on her right now. I will go on ahead and order a MAP sensor, since the problem seems to have originated from the intake manifold. I already have the DT BPV. Thanks for the advice.

No problem man MAPS go out without warning but then if you kill one bad gremlin and still have one kicking around I am sure we can figure it out easily.

Yeah, she went into limp mode again this morning. Still reading the P0108 fault code. I'm ordering the MAP today at lunch. Then when I install it, I'll probably check for any leaks as well. Did you reset your computer after replacing the MAP sensor? Again, thanks!!

I didn't reset the computer but I did use my scangauge2 to clear the codes.

Sounds good. By the way, which MAP did you change out? There's the one right on the front of the car. I'm being told there is a second one somewhere else. I want to make sure I'm replacing the right one.
