Downpipe or Intercooler

Hey guys. I have an 07 Cooper S. I have put on DDM race intake, ram air system, Alta turbo pipes, M7 turbo muffler delete pipe, Forge BOV, and removed the resonator from my stock exhaust. Oh, almost forgot my Mini Mustache :https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ct/6931/cat/28

I am trying to figure out my next purchase. Should I get a Riss catless downpipe or should I do an intercooler? The DP would give me bolt on performance, and the intercooler im not sure about. I figure an intercooler would provide more worth down the road since I plan on getting a tune from jan at Revolution Mini since he is 15 min away from me. Im just on a too tight of a budget to get intercooler and tune right now. Does anyone actually see any power gains from an intercooler alone, without tune?

HELP ME MAKE A DECISION!

if you get a catted dp, noise levels shouldn't change much at all.

To the original post: if you plan on getting tuned soon, definitely definitely do the IC! You can't go wrong with either though...but the IC will help you more in the end.

I got the FMIC first, and I am happy with the way it worked out. The Alta is very torquey and I really noticed a difference. Then the DP just made it rev quicker and free'rrer...

Do you guys think I can safely add a catless downpipe without a tune? I just feel like the intercooler is a lot of money for not a lot of performance...until a tune(big $ too).

When you guys say FMIC, why is that? Power, safe power, looks, cabin noise? On that note, anyone have any drone with a dp?

Mmm that's tough. If you don't plan on ditch the whole exhaust on the car then go FMIC. I added mini on top of my current powertrain setup (still with no ECU tune) and there is definitely more pull at 4K+ rpm.

1. You can run catless without a tune (I'm doing it .. and have been for some time... though expect a CEL).

2. Going catless dp without an IC is pointless IMHO. Because you really need a tune to truely take advantage of it and there is no point (IMHO) of getting a tune prior to have an upgrade IC.

Going DP before IC seems like putting the cart in front of the horse.

Just my 2 cents.
