Drivetrain RR Downpipes, feedback?

more like 10+hp diff without a cat, maybe more on a cooper s than a jcw.the catted one may give you 2 to 3 hp which you will not notice in seat of pants butt dyno.
The cel does not affect performance or drivablity.
In a state with emission testing i would still go catless and just change out the downpipe when needed(takes less than 15 -20 minutes)

A lot of people buy MacDonalds because of the marketing and not the quality.
sometimes the wallet will give false readings on the dyno.

I'm pretty sure people would have figured out by now that catted dp's dont give any power.... 2-3hp is nothing

dude it is so cold i had to disconnect my water meth because chunks of ice kept getting caught in the intake valves.
Yeah nothing to do because the ball n chain and my little princess are out of town visiting Grandpa.

Oh I just meant, do you think it would sound ricey with downpipe + stock r56 catback...
But yea it seems that catless vs catted downpipe the difference is a couple of HP and sound... Oh and catless is cheaper, i think thats a big reason why people go with it
I'm sure the catted dp will still be louder than the stock r56 downpipe, and offer a significant power gain. I think it may be worth it to just go catted to avoid the trouble

I mean you also don't seem to believe that FMIC's add any power.
But I have to think that a highflow cat, with less restrictive piping is going to add a good amount of power over stock. And looking over at other car forums, people add catted aftermarket dp's all the time with positive results.

Dude you need to read the post by clint.fmic do not add power, the fmic provides benefit in regard to heatsink. The aftermarket fmic have more surface area that minimize heat sink.
cold engine with stock mini front mount vs cold engine with aftermarket larger front mount (both flow the same amount of cfm)will make the same hp or the larger front mount will lose a little hp because of boost drop.(it has to fill a larger volume before it reaches the intake port on the cylinderhead)
The only way a larger fmic will provide a hp increase is if it flows more cfm.The mini stock fmic flows just as well as the ones that are currently offered by the aftermarket.
Understand ?

You can have the biggest pipe with most freeflowing bends but if you have the pipe paired with a cheap lowflow(even the best cat will not flow with a unrestricted pipe) cat you have gained nothing or have lost power.
On downpipes i say go with more flow ,more power and less expense.
As far as having your car go thru a state inspection just r&r the aftermarket downpipe withe the oem downpipe a week or 2 before inspection.(it only takes a few minutes to swap pipes)
