RMW Tuning Days in eastern Connecticut are May 25-27, 2010

I just firmed up the details for the RMW tuning day at Swift Motorsports in Norwich, CT. Jan Brueggenn is looking to fly out in late May to do the tunes just prior to the Grand Am event at Limerock, CT on Memorial Day weekend.

Swift Motorsports in Norwich, CT will be the location for the RMW tuning. Swift's DYNO Dynamics dynometer is capable of monitoring AFR and boost if you have a boost port available for them to tap into. The DYNO is also a two or four wheel dyno. Not that the four wheel dyno matters for the MINIs, but Jan also tunes BMWs. So for the BMW XIs out there who want a tune, let me know.

Jan is capable of tuning 6-8 maybe 9 cars in one day. Jan is also willing to tune over three days if there are more MINIs looking for a tune than he can fit into the first two days. This is a mid week tune so make sure you have your sick days on tap. Right now the prices are as follows:

R53: $350.00 plus DYNO fee
R56: $600.00 Plus DYNO fee

The DYNO fee will be around but not over $100.00.

This information is also posted on the local area MINI forum NEMINI : http://nemini.org/index.php?topic=434.msg7143#msg7143

Here is the lists of MINIs for the RMW tune:

Confirmed List

Assigned Dates and Times:

12:00p R53Eric
1:30p Dr Bob
3:00p HeavyMetal

6:00p GOKAHT

It is very hard to get Jan out this way, so if you are on the fence about this you might want to figure out which side of the fence you are on and make sure you don't miss this opportunity.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I am very interested in this tune day... No chance of weekend tune day though right? Any chance Jan will be tuning in the evening of that day? Either way I'm definately interested! Been looking for a tune day in the tristate area around spring time

Unfortunatley there is no weekend time from Jan. However, we can run the DYNO up to 9:00pm at Swift Motorsports in Norwich. After 9:00pm it's a city sound ordinance issue. Jan has already stated that he is willing to tune into the evening since he is there to tune.

I have a bit more information following a couple of questions.

Payment Question:

Swift Motorsports will take a credit card. Jan accepts cash, PayPal or check.

R53 injector question:

I heard back from Jan on the R53 injector question and here is his answer, "If you have a pulley and want to track the car it's best to have bigger injectors. As you get above 7k rpms the car will go lean due to the car running out of fuel."

Why is the tune for the R56 almost twice the cost of the R53?

I would assume that there was a lot more involved with developing the code for the R56 ECU. If I recall, in my months of research, the price of the R56 tune has actually gone down since first being released.

:(

Too bad I have a RMW cam and DT BOV that hasn't been installed yet. I still need to have those installed as well as finding headers and 380 injectors and installing those before I do a tune.

Would it be alright for me to stop by and hang out / watch?

That is awesome. I went to the last tune Jan had at "The Shop" in Norwalk and also went to the last Dyno day you set up at Swift Scotta and it was great meeting you guys. My car greatly improved after Jan tuned it...212.5HP. I will try to get over there in May. Sounds like a lot of fun. Last time stopped at the Casino on my way back...good times!!!!!

Back to Factory

I have been looking into this for while --- I have 35K on my 2007MCS

If needed can I go "back" to the factory software just in case I need to

That said I will likely be past the 50K warranty mark in a hurry once the tune is done

I'm a definite maybe -- more definite than maybe

Thanks

OK, you'll have to forgive my ignorance with this subject but what exactly is done when Jan does a "tune"? I see his name on here often but I was never sure what he does actually. I figured it was something to do with the computer of the mini's but if thats the case how different would it be then the one you get with the JCW tune?

Jan will adjust your MINI to enhance driveability, performance and fuel economy if you desire. The adjustment takes into consideration all of your engine performance modifications (ie, any intake improvements, exhaust improvements or ignition improvements) and fully utilizes these modifications.

Sign-up will continue until Jan has filled all of the slots or right up to the tune day. Jan is not adverse to tuning over two days.

Scott, I think I may be up for this.
Like you said, Jan doesn't come out this way too often, and for the price ($450 max), I don't think I can pass that up really.

Put me down as a maybe for the time being. I have another mod that's currently shut off, but hopeful it'll be resurrected in time so it can be counted as a usable mod in the tuning process.

Thanks!

I think at this point I'm a strong maybe....have to make sure I'll be in town...should know in a week or two. But with my mods I think it is time.
Anybody know if the remote tuning tool that Jan sells will be available....having a box with my tune on it so I can restore it (or the factoory tune) easily would make this even almost perfect for me....even if it does mean an extra $300 or so.
