Hey Mark, how is your gas mileage holding up with that tune your running?

All well stated, don't worry a bunch about the cost. Jan is working a large order and complex order. Let the man work.

Damn, ya'll keep posting... I gotta keep adding another post...lol.

In town, I average 24 mpg. I'm REAL HARD on the gas though. When I drive it like a normal person, I'll average about 26-27 in the city.

When I drive to FL from NC (looong drive) I'll average 28-30 mpg based on speeds of 85+.

If I drive 55-60, I can easily average 34-36 mpg.

Please do not misunderstand me. I hold Jan's work in high regard. I think he does great tunes. I would just not want to be a middle man inbetween him and my mini. I have been in 4 different GIAC / AE cars and they are all great. 2 BMW, 1 Audi, 1 Porsche.

James Hunt: That question was aske to pry info from Peter at M7. Of course a scoop won't make gains, possible that it could reduce temps. I was simply hoping to get a statement other than "it looks cool". I hope it will have some functionality as Southern California get hot.

p.s. Take it easy people. Just a guy looking for a good conversation and place to gain knowledge. I feel like a lot of people are on these forums to rag on vendors, users, and puff themselves up. I'm just trying to make it to 5:00 PM on a slow Friday.

No disrespect meant... but out of curiousity, did you read the graph posted above?

If I'm spending my money on a tune, I want something better than that. Those numbers aren't any better than a JCW Stage I kit. For less money, you could get the Stage I kit and keep the warranty.

Good luck.

Alta sucks, agreed. Anyone want to buy a cold side alta hose (haha). True, the tune is not extreme. Great gains out of a small turbo. Not too much so that I should be worried about cramming the pedal down 24/7 though. I've seen too many nice cars blown from over-tuning. Just going with safe power, thats what I have been looking for.

Then buy a rmw tune or get the canned jcw stage 0 tune with warranty

I'll tell you this... I've got over 15K miles on my RMW tune and LOVE it. No issues, no problems. (twice but neither was related in the least to the tune)

But you gotta do what you feel safe with. I personally try to listen to people with experience.

Valid arguments. Eager to try it though. The guys really know what they are talking about. Been in the business for something like 18 years. Met them at a show, good guys. I have some faith in their work. And, AE has some of the sweetest sports cars I have seen. Fully custom. The mini is no big deal, especially since they have experience with them and BMW. If nothing take it as me being your guinea pig.
OrangeCrush - Have any videos of your car? I really would like to see and hear it move. I should try and do the same. Going to do my best to get some on youtube soon. Maybe a before and after tune would be nice.

I've been tuning 996TTs and 997s and 135/335is and they are easier to tune than the US Mini

I do have some videos but this thread has been hijacked enough so we'll do the video thing later... they're on a thread here somewhere.

Hey Jan,
a question about your latest version of the tune, from what I've followed, there's a mapping difference somewhere in the ECM regarding wastegate control ? between the early ('07) cars and the later ('08+), and that's why we aren't making as much power ? I'm just wondering if it's something you've found and fixed ? I understand there are a LOT more tables within the R56 ECM than your traditional timing/fuel/load.

What about for people like me at elevation? I live at around 5000ft, will your normal tune have ill effects and have to be adjusted for that?
