Velocity Adjustable Throttle Booster System- Wow

Am I the only one else who has tried this? Once I installed it I was like WOW, this is gonna be fun! I was wondering if anyone who has tried it has had any problems with it... I just put it on like an hour ago and I felt compelled to share my feedback. But if anyone has had any issues with it please let me know... (not sure if this is the right location for this thread)

Posted my review as well...

nah, I have the SB Gen 1. Some nay sayers here will call it voodoo or witch craft or even the new flux capacitor. Mostly because those folks never tried it or don't understand how it works.

For $299.00, I would put this Sprint Booster on even before a pulley just for the added factor of drivablity alone.......

Yeah like Gray said, we've been selling the Sprint Booster for $299 and they have worked GREAT. It's cheaper and does the same basic thing, but easier cause it has only 3 modes.

easier cause it has 3 modes? this one has 4,.... does'nt seem like it would be easier or harder to increase the response by one more... or just leave it on 4 and turn the sport button on or off, it remembers where you left it at with the build in memory. does the sprint bst do that too? i'm not falimiar with it... it seems more like having 8 modes with the combonations of the sport button plus the velocity system. have you used it or just the sprint booster?

You're going to buy one without knowing what the main function is???

It takes the accelerator potentiometer signal and alters it before it goes to the ECU, generally to open the throttle more than what was programmed for a given accelerator position. The car will feel more responsive. The modes change how much the signal is altered.

It all smacks a bit of viral marketing to me.

Seems we see a thread like this about every month or so with someone breathlessly excited about this new device that made such a huge difference in their car's performance.......

For the dollar, at least in my 03 MCS, I would rate this product right up there with the HSport 25mm hollow rear sway bar....

And I had a 30 day money back guaranty too, but from the very first 2 mins I knew I was keeping it.

Yes....and most tunes will change the throttle mapping....defeating the purpose of this "system". For the price, its a complete and total rip-off....but thats my opinion. Spend $180 more and get a real tune...that does this and SO much more.

My throttle response is instantaneous....so much so that you really can't drive around in sport mode. Normal mode is like how sport mode used to be, and sport mode is now like race mode

oh that is on my list for sure...but for now this is fun... still waiting on that group buy for the IC (on my list too, befor i get a tune) from Helix! (and some other stuff)

anyway the nice thing is that all the concerns i read are about price.. i felt i got a good deal, i'm happy with it... i have not read anyone say anything about the issues with it though which is what i was most concerned with..

While custom tunes can improve throttle response it is nothing like these units

I agree that the prices are expensive but to some they are worth every penny

I take it that you have never used one?

As I said, it's merely my opinion...and to each his own!

I will save the $400 for other things I desire

Fair enough as these units are not to everyones liking (my wife hated driving my mini when I had one on)

Tunes cost more if looking for just a throttle remap.

2nd Gen Flash box to store OEM and tune = $480.00
1st Gen Flash box is $300.00
Dyno rate is $75.00 to 100.00 per hr, and a one hr Min unless rented for day.
Tune fee is what: $350.00 for 1st gen and
$600.00 for 2nd gen.

I am not a mathmatician, but adding up figures for a 2nd Gen car would be about: $1,100.00US and not much less for the 1st. Then if you put in some 440 injectors like most tuners do, you can add another $325.00 + 30 mins labor for installation.

Dont get me wrong, if you have modded your MINI to the point where you need all the bolted parts to work better together it's the way to go, but if you just want some more drivabiltiy from your MINI and not into removing OEM parts, the SB is a great chioce for them.

A local (not remote) custom tune at a tune event or by visiting the tuner's shop typically costs $400-$450 for 1st gen, $650-$700 for 2nd gen. An SB is poor value in comparison because a custom tune (even if nothing else is done at the same time) does so much more.
