Finally gotten around to posting videos of installed DoS CAI
I know there aren't a lot of Defenders of Speed CAI clips on YouTube so now that the weather is nice again in California, I've finally gotten around to recording and posting some videos.
I worked with Clint over at Defenders of Speed and the experience was more than wonderful!
Here are some videos. I don't have any other mods besides the intake so exhaust etc is stock.

And the engine idling sound you mention that is also from the intake, but I think the camera picks up that sound more noticeably than when you are actually sitting in the car.

It is my understanding that the sound you hear on a stock car is from the factory noisemaker not a blow off valve.
As far as I know MCS just has a bypass valve and the sound from that is way too quiet to actually hear in the car.
All the sound you hear in the video footage is from the DoS CAI!

The sound that you're hearing is the factory blow-off solenoid (an electronically actuated recirculating BOV) going off. This sound is largely masked by the factory airbox or 'intake muffler.' However, it's revealed with the DoS CAI.

I absolutely love that sound. MINI Coopers are performance vehicles so turbo noises should come with the territory. Too bad so many MINI owners complain so much about the sounds MINIs make that MINI USA had to take out even the small burbles from the exhaust, so of course the turbo noise will be muffled.
Clint, great work on the CAI and I cant wait to get one. Even if it takes a few years. :D

The baffle is there for folks that want all the benefits of our CAI with less CAI-based audio. About 40% -to- 45% of DoS customers buy the baffle. To each their own. . .

It sounds awesome, sucking very loudly till about 4.5kRPM, then it just sorta has a ringing sound the rest of the way to redline.
If I can find a high quality microphone, I'll try record the sound from the inside.

It's OK Elie, I'm just giving you trouble.
We're happy that this product is delivering on its performance claims. It's also cool that lots of folks are liking the sound as-is. As mentioned above, DoS has a 'significant other approved' noise baffle available (that does not rob hp), so it's OK to tame the audio effect of the CAI without making a performance sacrifice.

Also it seems that the camera is placed closer to the hole that you cut in the bulkhead panel to hear the intake too. The camera I had was suctioned to the passenger side window. But yes, all the other mods you have amplify things quite a bit I'm guessing!!!
Awesome sound though!
