Boost Gauge rattle?

Yesterday I installed an STRI X-Line boost gauge. I finally used my BSH dual boost tap for more than a PCV block off.

Anyway, the new gauge works just fine. The problem is that it rattles. The noise corresponds with the needles movement. I took the gauge back out of the holder and I can feel the vibration that is causing the rattling noise. It seems to make noise at lower speeds, during vacuum.

Anyone else run into this? Do you think I got a defective gauge, or did I just not spend enough?

I was thinking that the boost source might have something to do with it, so I took the plug out of the boost port. It did the same thing with it open.

Yeah, I'm learning that it comes with the territory. Does anyone know where I can get a liquid filled 2 1/16 boost gauge? I can't deal with the rattling.

Hey Tim, I think I forgot to mention that the prosport gauges have the same problems with rattling noise. I was going to tell you but I got carried away with our conversions. Here is the thread of how to fix it
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ost-gauge.html

and here is the Defi gauges I was talking about :

I bet these won't rattle. I plan on getting this boost gauge:
http://www.veisystems.com/bom-m.html

and this combo oil pressure/oil temp gauge. http://www.veisystems.com/d1-opmotf-m.html

I will use my Scangauge for water temp.

Oh wow, those are some high tech gauges. I think you're the first on NAM using these gauges. I'd love to hear some feedbacks from it.

I had some major rattling in my coolant temp gage, same one as my boost gage; come to find out it was the button for checking highest readings and setting it and what not. I went to the hardware store and bought a couple supper small o-rings and put them around the button. The button is harder to push down, but no more rattle!

A'PEXi gauges

I have fitted Apexi boost gauge and Exhaust gas temp gauge with the electronic control unit with peak/hold-warnings and real time replay.

They both work excellent. Bare in mind though that these are electronic gauges and cost far more than a simple mechanical gauge. But they proved to be very accurate and super responsive.

Recommended.

Probably not, I have the Alta supplied gages. I looked at the Marshall Gages, and they don't look like they have a button in front to put the o-rings on.
