Dyno - 03' MCS - DDM CAI / 15% Pulley / RMW Tune - 60K Miles
Just picked up this Mini a little over a week ago. It was bone stock...In near perfect shape with 60K miles on it.
Installed a 15% pulley, DDM CAI, colder NGK plugs and then took it to a local Sunshine Mini dyno / tune day a couple of hours after the installation of the parts. Jan with RMW was in town and I wanted to take advantage of the part install.
Anyway, I think the results were pretty good...Happy with the way the car drives...VERY smooth...Pulls much harder on top too.
177 HP on a Mustang Dyno...I was told they are at least 10% low in comparison to a Dynojet.

I like the Dynapack system, but I have not had a good following. I went to one near here, and my numbers were WAY off compared to other postings with similar setups using that system. I think the guys had no idea how to use it. They had the torque resistance set so high, my MCS sounded like it was choking just getting through the pull.
If you want something to compare to, get a couple of other friends that have MINIs and let them see how they do on the same dyno.

Thanks for the insight on that. It was an RMW tuning day. A bunch of others there. My results were very good in comparison to others. It seems to me that it takes a lot of work for little gains from where I am now.
Cars with cams, exhausts, bigger injectors, etc made only a few more than mine did.

Will be hitting the Dynojet as soon as I break in the OS Giken. I am running the Kellners ECU. Will post charts as we play with the tuning. Last dyno runs we did was in 2009 and a dissappointing 196 - 199 real WHP on the runs We are aiming at 210+ whp this go round as we play with the ECU etc.
Here in Korea 3 runs on the Dynojet cost like $100.

Sprintex equiped mini goes to the dyno!
First stage of our project is complete.. so we moved to a dyno run to make the fine tuning and see the gains..
the car is running on:
-sprintex s5-210 64mm pulley
-Thumper TPR2R rocking head
-1320 Cat cam
-Mynes V2 decat
-Gp intercooler
- Je raised compression 9.3
-polished con rods and weight balanced
-weight balanced crank.
-aquamist HFS3 running 50/50 water/meth.
one stock ecu tuned with Bytetronik FA.
The biggest SURPRISE to our project was the power we managed to unleash with just the appropriate settings over the TORQUE MANAGER! The car got plus 30whp on the WHOLE rev range! Even the operator of the dyno was shocked!
You can see both graphs, change is only on torque manager settings! the lower values is with stock values! 257.81whp and the higher one 280.5whp is with tuned torque manager settings!

Approx. Time: 4 p.m.
Environment Variables
---------------------
Approx. Temp.: 55.9 degrees Fahrenheit
Approx. Dew Point: 28.9 degrees Fahrenheit
Approx. Humidity: 39%
Approx. Bar. Pressure: 29.78in
Temp. Measure Location: Oceana NAS
Distance to shop: ~3 miles

Dyno Dynamics Results
----------------------
Peak HP: 183.1 @ 7200 RPM (208.1 incl. ~12% parasitic loss)
Peak TQ: 160.0 @ 4800 RPM (181.8 incl. ~12% parasitic loss)
Peak A/F: ~12.0
Engine Mods
-----------
- 15% pulley
- Detroit Tuned BPV
- DDMWorks CAI
- GP Intercooler w/GP Diverter (spray-painted w/Eastwood black radiator paint)
- Invidia catback exhaust
- Brisk DOR 14 LGS plugs
- RMW Tune
General Notes
-------------
- I had no base dyno run prior to my MINI mods. This specific run compares to the previous made on 10-2-2010. At that time, I did not have the GP intercooler, and my RMW tune was incomplete.
- Jan finished my tuning at MOTD 2012.
- Different dynos can vary in their readings. Read more below on my findings of dyno variations.
Performance-Specific Notes
--------------------------
- All three pulls were done using 4th gear. Even though 6th gear is the closest to a 1:1 ratio, a pull using it would be nearly impossible because of the speeds needed to achieve 7500 RPM.
- From all the threads and pages I have read, the estimated drivetrain loss in a six-speed manual MCS is around 12% (and this is a rough estimate in itself because the loss can vary at a given RPM). Considering a stock 2006 MCS has 168HP @ 6000 RPM and 162 lb/TQ @ 4000 RPM at the crank, that's roughly a gain of 40.1HP and 18lb/TQ. Peak HP increased in range by 1200 RPM. Peak TQ increased in range by 800 RPM.
- Compared to my previous run in October 2010, I lost 5 lb.TQ but gained 5 HP. What's more impressive is the HP peak increased from 6500 RPM to 7200 RPM, and the TQ band increased from 4200 RPM to 4800 RPM.
- Boost for each pull was 15.7 lbs, 16.2 lbs, and 16.7 lbs at peak HP, respectively. The engine had been sitting for a couple of hours before the first pull. I am suspecting I have a small boost leak somewhere, and the seals swelled as the engine warmed up.

hello everyone. I have an automatic R52 2006. my specs are like that: alta %17 pulley, jcw air filter kit(without flap),jcw gp intercooler, custom tune(custom tune done while the flap was working; not removed) anyone could tell me why there is a jump at 4500rpm? I am thinking that the custom tune was done while the flap was working and than I remove it but the tune stays the same, I don't update it.I run at 4th gear. Thanks.

Not sure what sort of dyno we had for our club's "Dyno Day" as the original guy set up to do it was a no-show and we found a guy last-minute to save the day. Middle values of three pulls.
A cool and slightly humid spring day in AZ, about 59F and 46% humidity at 1200 or so ft. above sea level.
172.5 HP
171.6 lb. ft. torque.
Mods:
I hope we have another dyno day again sometime soon now that I have finally got the proper 380cc injectors in place.
C ya,
Dutch

Yes, I had really wanted to setup a Tune Party, w/ Jan from RMW but he did not seem to interested in coming in December, so I am not going to be setting that up, I can not see helping someone make money that does not want to work with you. (gets off soapbox)
SOOoooo . . . I decide to go with the Factory JCW 210 Tune, my Local Dealer will do it for 1Hour Shop Time. It will be interesting to see what that gets me, I expect a 10 to 15 HP Bump.

r53 dyno run (CAI, 17% pulley, MSD ingition)
heres the dyno chart from my run today at school
i am currently taking dyno tuning for performance so i have access to a dynojet on saturdays
approx temp: 75 F
atmospheric pressure: 14.7
Performance Mods: listed in signature
163whp/152lbft torque in 4th gear (10whp improvement from last weeks run in 3rd)
torque/whp
AFR
i believe the sniffer came loose on my second run hence the wacky AFR curve.
