I'll be watching. I've been wanting to open up the exhaust on my jcw. And I would love to get rid of the backfiring . It's not a pop and burble . It's just backfires.

I'm guessing that can be attributed to at what RPM the run is started at

The low end power/torque is amazing. It is so very difficult not to have a heavier foot with it. I know I'm dropping my gas mileage, but I just can't help myself

The few times when I have been able to refrain and not have a heavier foot I have noticed a couple of MPG increase but it is oh so difficult to hold back. I haven't been able to do it enough (refrain) to see what the real difference might be.

You can't start the run much lower than I did and it still took to 2700 rpm to get 240lbs. If it's really 240lbs at 2k that is awesome.

What's the lead time on the tune? Can we pay a bit more to have a custom tune created? What happens when my dealer updates my ECU?
1- Tell you next week
2- Yes, tune included
2.5- Missed this one!!!! Yes for sure, new maps with new ALTA part purchases.
3- Give us ring, and we'll fill you in!
4- Nope
5- Nope
6- If we did do something special beyond the off the shelf mapping, it could be a day, may be two.
7- Initially our maps are going to be where we feel they will best suite customers needs and mods. There is a little HP left on the table which is where a custom tune comes into play. Over time other tuners will use our tools and tune them. We may do a few customers cars here once and a while also.
8- Before you go to the dealer, uninstall the ALTA AccessPORT. IF they update your ECU, the worst thing is it may be an ECU we don't know about and within a couple of days we will get you a new map so you can be back running big power.

Weird that it backfires not burbles. That is not normal!

Gary's car is an auto, so i have to launch it at 2000 in 3rd or it just downshifts and does weird things. So at 2000 that turbo is at full song! Hence huge TQ. I could do the same 2000 launch on the manuals but 1500 is more realistic so show actual spool.

Wheres that print out, so we can drool
I do have a chart showing stock, RMW, and ALTA tunes. I may post it at some point, I may not. I don't want this to turn into a comparison between one tune vs. another. Both tunes are great and worth every penny.

Since no one else has asked yet, is the AP capable of launch control? How does it work?

The launch control works on manual cars (sorry Garry). It works like your foot works, meaning if i say in neutral to not go above 4000, i can floor it(like in the vid) then the ECU will control the RPM's to 4000 by using the throttle. While its not like others where its cutting fuel, timing and making a bunch of noise, its very very safe on your motor.

ALSO i fixed my answers to war6763's questions. I missed one making it look like we wouldn't supply more maps with more parts. We will for sure do this.

Here is one JCW result. This shows a customer car, that has a stock tune, but with ALTA Turboback exhaust, and ALTA Intercooler only. This customer is a huge track day guy and he did say Holy Crap after his track day!

Ah-hah, that is why I didn't see any options for it on the AP.

Holy hell....

That is a monster!

No offense intended at all and I'm not at all saying this side is better than that side blah blah blah....but the Cooper S tune doesn't look that out of the ordinary, albeit a little on the stronger side of things.

BUT....

The JCW tune looks absolutely unreal....great work guys! That massive area under the curve must feel redic....

What are you boosting the JCW to?

Thanks for your answers Jeff! I think it cleared up a couple questions we all had about the tune... but now we need to wait until next week to get the price!! I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that it'll probably run >$500 though... anyone else have any idea? I need to go talk to my bank...

Sorry guys i failed! Left work with no dyno graph!!
Anyway here it is.
This is our JCW with turboback exhaust, Intercooler, hot side boost tube, and of course an ALTA AccessPORT Tune.

The comparison car is the same car a few hours previous but in completely stock form no ECU tuning.

What is really cool is that there is more to be had! This was with no intake(which made about 5WHP on stage 2 tune, and the cold side boost tube wasn't installed! But realistically this is where the limits of the turbo are. From 5500 to 7000 there is a bit of a drop as the turbo poops out.
