im itching to know as well but I don't have much time to go to a track, nor do I know how to launch this monster, nor do I want to get arrested/ a ticket for "speeding, drag racing, unsafe acceleration, disturbing the peace, roaring engine noise." The cops around here like putting as MUCH as they can on simple speeding tickets
sounds like you are in the same boat as me. Figure 5.5 is the best you'll get without practice on stock tires. It's hard to accelerate when you can't get traction.

The car itself maybe capable of a much lower time, but the driver isn't.

This was my best 0-60. Lots of wheel spin. With some practice I bet I could knock another tenth or so off. I got a few 1/4 mile runs in but my 0-60 was slower on them.

If I would have run a 5.4 0-60 on this run that would have put me in the 13.9 second range I'm guessing.

You had a great 60'. Mine was like 2.6.. If I had gotten a 2.0 there I woulda been at 5.0 for 0-60 since I was at 5.6 with a 2.6 60'. I think anyway.. maybe my math is off.

Hello all!
So i wanted to make a formal announcement that the ALTA AccessPORT ProTuner software is now available to qualified tuners!

What does this mean to our current an future customer base? It means you will be able to take your car to one of these tuners, get a custom tune done on your ECU using the ALTA AccessPORT! This means those guys with weird intakes, custom turbo kits, and any other combination of parts not offered with our ALTA off the shelf mapping, can get a custom tune!

Of course the first tuner we opened up the door to is:
REVOLUTION MINI WORKS
Jan Brueggeman 8 Julian Irvine, Ca 92602 949-456-9590
jan@revolutionmini.com
www.revolutionmini.com
Jan is currently the most well know custom tuner out there (for Mini's) and its an obvious choice to open the door to him. I believe he has already tuned a few cars and has some dyno days planned using the ALTA AccessPORT. Feel free to contact Jan to also purchase you AccessPORT from him!

We have a few other ProTuners we are working on at the moment also. As soon as they are ready we will put them up on our site as a qualified ProTuner on our ALTA AccessPORT tuner page.

Also check back on our first page of this thread as it will also be updated periodically with new tuners!

MotorMouth, for 0-60,
do recommend to launch with traction completely off or DTC?
I recently updated my Alta AP and have the 0-60 option and so forth. I think I'm going to have a test run with it
and i was wondering what would yield the best results.

I'm not the best person to ask as I can't get a great launch myself. I would think you'd want traction control as much off as possible so the engine doens't cut power. Who knows though, maybe i'd be faster without the wheelspin.

I've tried 0-60 runs with sport mode on and off and with DSC on and off. My best 0-60 so far was 5.99 with sport mode off and with DSC on(running a stage1 non-tps map). Even with DSC on I still get quite a bit of wheelspin on launch with another chirp from the tires on the 1-2 shift. A bit of practice is definitely required to get a good launch. I think the sport mode throttle settings make it a little harder to control wheelspin at launch but for most normal driving I prefer the non-tps map with sport mode on.

I haven't seen any updates on the CA 91 octane maps. Are those official yet? What kind of power gains are people seeing?

Fjork,

We are still working on the 91 octane maps, sorry! The gains are going to be very similar to the 93 octane maps, probably just a few WHP less.

Patiently waiting.

Same here

I've been putting Shell 91 since day one and I have no plans to switch.

@Alta Staff

Does AP always need to be connected while the car is running? I'm asking because I want to get scanguage II but I'm not sure since each car only comes with 1 OBDII port.

not unless you want data logging or a gauge out of it.

Honestly, I was just talking to Chris on the phone about this yesterday. I ONLY put 93 octane in both our R53 and R56. The gas mileage is increased by 1.5-2mpg every time and the cars literally run better. Hard to believe but if you can get your hands on 93 all the time, do it! If it is not available where you live, that is a different story, but it is truly worth it.

Unfortunately for CA/AZ/NV folks it's not that simple.

Thanks for asking! You do NOT need to keep the ALTA AccessPORT installed all the time, unless you want to use it as a monitor. (You don't need a ScanGuage anymore as those functions are built into the AccessPORT already.) This illustration helps visualize all the items you DON'T need as they are combined into the ALTA AccessPORT

Let me know how I can help further!

You can't get 93 in CA and all those other states? That sucks. Why not?

How would it compare to a boost gauge or water temp gauge for displaying info? I think the scan gauge can display real time boost but i think it is not straight forward like a real boost gauge would be. Plus I would think harder to read when driving.

Any feedback on the real time usability of these functions from Alta and actual users would be appreciated. Btw. I checked Alta's website and couldn't find the level of detail I was looking for.

Any boost gauge reading from the OBDII, which is actually (MAP - Atmospheric Pressure), is going to be delayed by a second on our MINI's. Since the boost is constantly going up and down it'll be hard to get an accurate reading.

Water temp doesn't fluctuate as fast so an OBDII reader would work nicely for that.

IMO nothing beats a real boost gauge tapped into the the intake system, especially one with a Peak function.

Hi Adam,

do you know when you might be getting it for automatics? Do you have a timeline? I'm really excited, and I can't wait.
thx

West Texas also doesn't get 93 octane usually... I think I can get both in town though, just have to go to the right gas station.

Is it available for UK cars? If not- when?
Would it support a big turbo upgrade? And get rid of any problems when the recirculation valve solenoid is unpluged???

Advantages and disadvantages over a UniChip?

Can it be used in conjunction with a UniChip?

I was getting gas yesterday. Here is what we have available in Fort Worth, TX. I dont know who would buy 88 or 89 octane.
