Good luck having a dealer give you a $2K kit... Especially on a new car.

Where are the alta guys? This thread is dead! I hope they're still working on new maps for the AP and on the pop and burble feature/ sport button.

I never saw the factory kit to be worth it... It seems that you can get more power and options from an accessport than a one time dealer installed kit....I still say if u can get it, go jcw, then again, the tuning potential for double vanos tech is much higher than single vanos, look at what it does for Honda mitsubishi and subarus!

The 92+ maps are designed to work on 92 or 93 octane. If all you get is 93, that is perfect!

The maps actually control the throttle for launch control, so it isn't a fuel cut, your car isn't going to sound like a rally car, sorry!

Thanks for your time.
The transmission will be fine. We have had customers running stage 3 tunes on the automatics for 6 months now, and there have been no problems that we've seen. Thanks!

Sorry I haven't been on here since Thursday, it's been a little busy for the holidays!

We are still working on the pop and burble, as soon as it's ready, we will make sure everyone knows!

All good info Chris! Thanks. Torque and HP more important than Pop & Burble, IMHO...

When are you expecting to release the 2011 MCSa Tunes?? Will the Tunes work on 2.5" exhaust as well as for your 3" pipes?

Stephen

I hate you alta!!!

BTW... I just noticed that Alta's web site has an 18% discount on parts. That means stg 3 parts (if you already have the AP) are now 2049 down from 2499. UGH!!! That's a good damn deal. Unfortunately with christmas I've spent a ton of cash already. I wonder how long the deal lasts. I need to think about it a bit.

Stephen,

We are still working on the 2011 maps, what would really help us if someone local to us or COBB with a 2011 S could come by! We just need to get a copy of the ECU. Once we get that, we should be able to get the tune ready pretty quickly.

New AP customer

Just picked up the AccessPort yesterday. Five minutes to install and I had a fun drive home! My first impressions are great!

Too bad I'm not nearby. I'd bring my '08 Subaru FXT w/full Cobb treatment for them to check out. It throws a code on occasion, right after it coughs, stutters and feels like it hit a brick wall. Usually under full throttle.

I'd take the JCW too, so that they could set me up with an Accessport for it. We love it on the Scooby and I'm anxiously awaiting a tune for the '11 JCW.

Chris:

I am in the Seattle area so not quite next door. How about "test driving" one from the very local dealer??

If you know what code it is, contact COBB, they can help you out with maybe getting a new map made.

If they'll let you drive it down here, then that would be awesome!

Hey Alta

Go to YOUR local Mini dealer and download the maps yourself off the 2011 models.

You are wasting time and not getting revenues farting around.

Take some initiative please!!

You are killing everyone waiting for this.

Send me an Accessport and I will send you the maps 30 minutes later.

I think that everyone needs to chill out and be patient like everyone who owns a 2007-2010.

The code took almost 3 years to crack the first time around and then tuning and development time to make sure that they are putting out a quality product that works well with the engine.

I think everyone who has an 11' needs to understand that its a new ECU and its going to take a little while to crack, Albeit maybe not as long as it took to crack the 07-10' because maybe ALTA has a little better understanding of how the MINI ECU is coded but it still takes time.

Not to mention they are still working on fine tuning the first AP unit for the 07-10 guys.

Give them a break and stop riding them about it, they know that everyone wants one for the 11' Cooper S's and Countrymen and that it's profit lost while they don't have one.
But they will soon, so be patient.

My 2011 JCW will be here in a couple of weeks. 6 days from CA by boat now. When it comes in Chris I can take a run down for break in and you can copy the code. I will keep you posted.

Sheesh it isn't even 2011 yet and these guys want a tune already. When the tranny and a few things changed on the F-150 in 2009 it was well over a year before any reputable tuners were able to sell a programmer for it. And even to this day lots of limitations are still in the way of changing WOT shifts, firmness, rev limiter, timing, and much more.

Relax..... Like others have said, it took ~3 years for a reliable tuning solution for our cars, and 2011s have only been out a few months. Even if they had they ECU already, I'm sure they would want to take their time on every possible change between ECU versions to make sure they're selling a good product. Plus, for those who have 2011s already, it would probably be a good idea to break the car in for a while before tuning it.

Well, by what you said in the last sentence, maybe you're just looking for a cheap/free Accessport

you really think a dealership is going to let them hook up a computer to a new mini on the lot? The dealer isn't going to care to lose their franchise license and be sued to kingdom come by MINI.

and no you won't send them the data 30 minutes later as it takes an hour to download the ecu to the AP.

Have some patience already - or else drive your MINI to their shop.

I was only saying that getting a map of a 2011 ECU can be done.

I think you need to read what year I have in my signature nefore telling me to relax.

I dont have an interest in this. given I have a 2009.
