Seems like you also got a R56 Cooper S with JCW Tuning Kit and no other
mods, right? If so, let me know how you like the Alta tune once you get it to work! I also have the same setup as you and I am now considering to get the Alta tune as well! Thanks!

Yup, if you're leaving the door open and playing with the tune, it doesn't take long for the battery to go dead.

At least you're up and running.

Have you been able to get it charged up? I'm curious to see if you've gotten the tune installed and how you like it?

Yea Minis don't make the clicking sound like most cars do when the battery is drained. Its weird. That's why I didn't even think of that. Plus my windows still worked and my radio. I was beginning to get really worried. Jeff called me several times to make sure all was good. Outstanding customer service that is hard to come by these days. I just went on a 30 min test drive and it pulls hard. I had a late model Civic SI Sedan that wanted to play and it wasn't even close. It's 104 degrees in Texas right now so I know thats robbing more than a few ponies. This heat down here sux. Anyway, I'm very happy with my purchase. It was a lot of money for a poor guy like myself but I feel that it was worth every penny. Now I gotta save for the new intercooler and turbo back exhaust.

I'm glad it was something simple and that you are happy with the purchase and performance of your MINI. It's great to see others are finally getting their hands on this and are enjoying it as much as I am.

I have seen posted that on a Porsche ECU when loading a new map on to an ECU that if the battery is low or goes dead in the process that the ECU can be damaged beyond repair.

It seems like this did not effect NeverEnuff, so is this not an issue with the Mini ECU? BTW glad to see you like your new Alta tune and please tell us more about any performance gains you feel from behind the wheel.

I plan to hook up my battery charger during the flash. This is also a recommendation ALTA mentions on their web page. Better safe than sorry.

I quess it would be easy to skim over the battery charger issue if you were in a hurry so thanks for posting Alta's recomendation and brining that to everyone's attention.

Good idea! Also remember to turn off the headlights and the radio when you are doing a reflash. Having those on will kill the battery pretty quick on the Minis.

guys....please excuse my ignorance but I thought the flash process was a 30 or 40 second thing? If so...how are people at risk of killing batteries and/or how exactly is a charger that's put on the batter for a few minutes going to help?

Before it can be flashed, it needs to install some software. The flash itself takes roughly 40 - 45 seconds. The complete initial installation takes roughly 4 to 5 minutes. After that any re-flashes will be in the 40 - 45 second range.

it's not that there is a high probability of your battery dying during this time. It's just the consequences of it dying are pretty high so the charger is cheap insurance.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but do we know for how long the introductory price is going to stay?
