We are working on the tunes for the 2011s, it'll be at least 4 months for those tunes.
This makes me sad.
Is it just 'cracking' the software at this point? Is the plan to release both auto and manual transmission versions at the same time? I love all your products and this is the icing on the cake I can't wait for.

We completely appreciate where you are coming from. Trust that we are not wanting to hold anything back from the 2011 Cooper S peeps!
I had just about the same type of error message on mine when I first tried to use it on my '11 JCW and Chris told me to use the beta version of the ALTA software. After I upgraded the ALTA unit to the beta, it found the car, I was able to install the new map, and it works great now.
Got mine today and gave me the same error. Downloaded the beta firmware and plugged it back again. Car was recognized and install complete. ALTA, thank you for such a smooth transaction!
Just a quick question regarding the maps- i read a thread about the distinctive "pop and burble" noise made by the ecu letting a little unburned fuel into the exhaust after one lets off the throttle. Do the alta maps make an effort to make some p&b?

Have you read any of this thread? Your question has been asked and answered many many times in it.

Thanks chris! I actually dont have a MINI (yet) and was just curious as to whether or not the ap could get me the sound which i love so much. When i get my car and have an ap (first mod im doing) ill shoot you a pm.
Loving the tune guys! patiently awaiting my intercooler, so I can try the FMIC stage 1 tune. Whats the difference in the 91 and then 92 octane tunes? Just some more boost? or are there some solid changes to the timing?
There's one customer that has a PB map, and has been running it for a little while. There still are some problems that we've been working on though.
Two customers... The PB works pretty good, it's enjoyable and the car runs good. But like Chris said, there are a couple problems, all be it minor, that need some tweaking. I ran it for a couple weeks, and liked it, and good look past the problems, but they exist none the less.

Can you list out the problems you have? I want to get the PB map, so would like the minor issues you are having.
Please remember, the PB maps are prototype maps, and not something that we're sending out to everyone. If you guys want to talk about them, keep them to PMs please, thanks!

Jeff and CHris have been really cool helping me with maps and, tweaks and all, and I don't know if they would want me doing that. I'll send you a PM about it, but you need to be cool too and not post it on the forum.
I have a 2008 MCSA (Monty) that is pretty much bone-stock except for a JCW front strut bar and a K&N air filter. The AP really gave my car a kick in the pants (and I am running the 92 octane auto. tranny map). My seat o' the pants dyno felt like about a 20-25 whp increase coupled with about a 25+ torque boost, nicely situated in the center of the power band , 2500 - 4500 or so rpm. This is the kind of power that is really usable on a daily basis. Frankly, (or Tomly or Jimly) I am not impressesd by Honda-like power that requires one to spin the motah to 7,000 rpm in any gear in order to obtain impressive power figures...I REALLY like the fact that the Mini S motah already has 90% of your max torque before you hit 2,000 rpm!! Driven properly, it is damned hard to beat a Mini S outta the hole unless you just don't know Jacques-Sheet about how to launch a car from a dead stop.
I know a fairly well-regarded Comp. Eliminator tuner who once told me "Richard, folks buy HP, but they *drive* torque..." And I'll be damned if he ain't right...
