Cheaper O2 sensor replacement

As our cars approach and pass 100Kmi, a lot of us will be facing a O2 sensor failure.

The OEM factory sensors cost between $200 - $300 depending on where you get them.

I just went through this and have found that the AC Delco/Delphi sensor (#213-2908 or GM part number 19107252) works fine.

This sensor looks identical to the OEM - the nose has the slots punched in it, just like OEM, the cable has a OEM connector on it, and the harness is 2 ft. long. It even comes with a small tube of antiseize with it.

Oh - almost forgot - this sensor cost me $100 online.

Rock Auto has them in stock at $104.79. Interesting that they list a bunch for our Minis and this one is the cheapest. Go figure.

Thanks! I think it's time on my R50. I don't know if it was done while I didn't own her, but I doubt it and now she's got 143k!

You may want to check with a Mini dealer and see if your Mini qualifies for the 10 year/100K miles O2 sensor warranty that MINI has extended to certain 2004-2006 Minis.

Thanks for the info and links.

One point to note... for the alternatives, don't bother with any O2 sensor that requires cutting and splicing in the original connector. This can change the resistance level, which will affect its reading efficiency.

be very careful with some of the 02 sensors as I have logged the cars with them and they are a mess on the fuel trims

Does anyone know all about O2 sensors? I mean, what are the specs that would necessitate one over the other? Voltage output? O2 sensitivity?

I'll tell you this much. I took both of mine off a week ago and cleaned them plus repaired the wiring on the pre-cat one and boy does my car run better.
