if you just want loud turbo noise slap any filter on the end of the MAF and your golden... Intakes are mostly jokes anyway, very few if any actually give you more HP's....

what size would the filter be? I see there are so many on k&n's website, also which one? round, cone, oval straight? or would it be a drop in? Sorry i dont know anything about the 2nd generation mini under the hood... and i want to make sure that this filter would make just as much noise as a cold air intake kit....please help

I can't remember if its a 2.5 or 3 inch inlet you need, but make sure you don;t get a K&N unless its not pre-oiled. The oiley crap on the filters can really cause issues with the MAF, so make sure what ever filter you buy its not pre-oiled. And unfortunately a lot of K&N's are.... You need a standard cone filter type, any other the ECU does not like, doesn't create the right turbulence. You can get away with other filter types on a true CAI system but not when you are strapping it directly to the MAF.
