Mine is a 2011 automatic with the N18 engine. I dont know about the 2012. Call NM at 805 388 7171 and ask for Jerry in tech. He is very helpful.

I talked to NM Engineering about 3 days ago. As of then, they still could not tune our newer ECU's.

Newer as in 2012 ECU's??

Did I miss something? Wouldn't all N18 ECU's be the same, or did they change something already?

Newer as in built after 02/12.

I might be wrong with the cut-off, but I believe that is when they switched to a different ECU for the Countryman models.

You should be ok.

Renntech is an option right now, and hopefully ETG will be as well after October.

Okay, I'm going to be the idiot here and hang the dumb question out there:

Can any tuner get the N18 to have the fuel overrun (pop/burble) like the factory JCW cars? This is really the deciding factor between having this done or buying the JCW kit. On the N14, other tuners found the cells for overrun, so it's certainly possible.

Petty, I know... I just love that sound...

the n18s in stock form already have the pops/burbles.

Yes and no... the N18 'S' has a few pops on decel. Best I can do is letting off and dropping into 4th - I'll get 3 or 4 at most.

The N18 fJCW cars have 10-15 pops on decel. It's quite clear once you've heard the difference.

As I said, we all know they pop with the Sport button on...

It's far less than the fJCW cars do, though. Hence the question about the overfuel tables...

mine pops/burbles as long as i am decelerating ... drive in an enclosed space, like a parking garage

it is more subdued than the hardtops, i suspect the different exhaust and size of the car has something to do with it

since i put the milltek downpipe-back exhaust on the pop/burble is more noticable

I'm going to clarify really quickly...

I have a full cutout and a 2nd cat and res delete. I'm pretty much straight-piped. Ergo, I'm going to have pretty much the most popping you can derive from the "S" trim.

Here is the truth: fJCW cars have at least 200% more pop/burble due to the overrun than any "S" model does. I will post videos if some of you have never heard fJCWs.

Regardless, enough of that. The question is:

Have any of the tuners been able to modify the fueling overrun tables?

Quick update: NM got back to me very quickly regarding this question. They don't yet know where the tables are for this. I'll send an e-mail to PAW and see if they've had any luck.

Not sure if I asked this already and NM hasnt responded yet. Is it possible for the dealer to flash my tune back to stock and if so does NM cover reflashes? Really trying to avoid getting another ECU to swap out for the yearly trips to the dealer for inspection stickers, free oil changes and the occasional recall.

From what I remember NM is as follows:

-$500 first-time flash
-Free flash updates (if they change something in the tune)
-Free flash back to stock
-$50 to re-flash tune after you've been flashed to stock.

Does anyone know if you can fit a downpipe and exhaust from a 2010 mini to a 2011 with the new engine? The dealer said they were different... I'm thinking it's BS...

I think Bren Tuning should be removed from the list because they were unable to tune my '11 ecu. BT seems to be an excellent tuner, but my ecu was sent back to me due to the lack of codes being cracked.

Daaang, seems like MINI is on top of things. I wouldn't be surprised if they constantly keep re-programming encryptions every so often to combat the tuning issue.....(I'm sure it's an issue to them, not us of course haha)

Well that sucks, looks like I will be going with NM or RennTech. I was looking forward to them hearing good things until you just said that.
