The Ak Delete R does work to remove the CEL 99% of the time. The other 1% comprises of the CEL showing up for 4-5 miles, then clearing. For some reason, it usually happens for me every two or three weeks on a Sunday after midnight (driving home from work). I can live with that. Actually.... I DO live with that!

It's great for people without emissions testing, but it won't hide the code from the scanner. The tuning causes a "NOT READY" status, while the Ak-R shows 0420, etc.

Still, good option for those without emissions and/or with the NM tune!

Yep, that would be me! I don't say this often but thank the gods I live in Savannah! NM tune comes after Way's exhaust manifold.

Forgive me if I'm being a complete moron, but it appears to me that Evolve has a tune that we can do from home (I'm assuming without having to ship off our ECU's).

It's possible that I'm overlooking something, but the website seems to be suggesting that one could plug in their computer to their ECU with a cable provided by Evolve, and then after emailing your car's codes to them, they send you your new codes.

Someone please correct me if I'm misunderstanding this.

What I believe you're missing is the difference between past models and 2011+ models. The ability to flash from the OBD2/CAN port has been disabled as of 2011+. Ergo, this flasher will not work for the vehicles mentioned in this thread.

My question is, for the NM tune. If I have a downpipe, which I will be getting, should my DP be catted or the cat delete because I thought for their stage two tune, they can't because of emissions? Maybe I misread or misunderstood the concept. If someone could please enlighten me. So my question is pretty much, I am going with a Riss Racing catless DP, keeping 2nd cat, and magnaflow muffler, would NM be able to produce the power from that system for me? Because I want to be able to squeeze out as much as I can. Thank you!

The only thing that I know of concerning NM and emissions vis-a-vis their tune is that they will not cancel out the CEL that running a catless or high flow cat DP will give. That is because they are a Cali company and Cali is rather adamant about that kind of thing.

if you leave the second cat in place, you are wasting your money with the downpipe

I was going to mention that but I forgot... Getting older. Does Michigan do emissions testing? Last ex-wife is from there but I'm not sure that she would entertain the question!

I have the Akrapovic DP (hi-flow cat) mated to a VIP Custom exhaust (2.5"/no cat). I get a drone at 70+ but it's a nice bass note. I like it.

So I should just get a high flow catted DP and no 2nd cat? I probably should put my resonator back then...ill see when it gets that point within this month! Really appreciate the help!

Whoa! Don't look to me for advice! I'm just saying what I'm doing. I'm in no way an expert. Many others on NAM who know the why's and what-fors. My idea before getting a tune was to open up my intake and exhaust as much as I could. I've been told that it isn't a bad plan. That's why I went with the exhaust setup that I have.

I mean I even plan to go with NM as my tune setup. Considered Evolve but heard nothing but amazing things about NM.

Whew! You had me worried.

Jerry T at NM is a great guy. Call him if you have any questions. He'll take some time with you.

Hey guys, I installed an Evolve Catless Downpipe two days after Christmas on my 2012 MCS (N18)... I started a small thread a little while back and I've just written a small elaboration on some research I did pertaining to CEL's, Trouble Codes, and the O2 Spacer technique...

IMHO, It's worth a read, specifically post #22

Feel free to chime in with your thoughts/experiences.

Sorry guys I'm new to mini's. I'm looking to purchase an AEM intake, exhaust work, and maybe a couple other bolt ons. I live in Florida and was wondering if there were any tuners in the Palm Beach area with a dyno. With my Honda I had Hondata but from glancing at the thread mini's aren't chipping the computer or using a stand alone computer(correct me if I'm wrong).

Hey guys quick question, would my MINI be better off with my DDM intake or a K&N panel filter when I tune my car? Thanks!

Just to let everyone know, I asked my service manager today how often the dealer pulls the ECU to check it. He told me that it is pulled every time the car is in for service and that if the software on it was changed in any way, they would know and that info would be sent to MINI.
